Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has ever got a Daylight natural therapy lamp on for winter season here in Ireland? Something like SAD lamps to get you through the dark winter months?

    Do you recommend any model?

    Thanks,

I've been test driving a pair of luminette SAD glasses over the last week. It has three settings - on the brightest setting you use them for 20 minutes a day. I think they are great but very pricey. Maybe next xmas...

The great thing about them is you can wear them over your normal glasses and still go about your work during the light session.

Might pick them up cheap in the January sales.

How would users describe the benefits of these light products? Better mood, more energy or something else?

For me - My mood is improved. I really hate the dark days from November through to March.

How many hours per day do you have the glasses on?

Shortest day today.. an SAD sufferer. DId a huge amount of research at one stage

The problem is not the shorter daylight but that the quality of light, the "lux" changes after about August. Even on bright winter days, still SAD hits.

After the shortest day, this starts to ameliorate slowly. So there is hope . The LUX starts to rebuild

The specialised lights replicate the "lux" quality of summer. which is why they work. They replace what winter takes.

There was one lad featured who was so badly affected he could not go to school. An hour in front of the lamp every morning was enough to help him

Sadly mine is a feature of CFS/ME and I also have serious light intolerance so cannot use a lamp. Sunny days are hard! I bought a Lightbox but had to give it away.

Sleeping up to 19 hours a day just now but the awareness that change is imminent gives me hope and it is surprising how soon change will start to happen. Knowledge is power

    Starts for me in August.

All this is why bears hibernate ;)A response to the change in light quality and intensity and the SAD is a strong feature of CFS/ME

The only thing that ever helped was 5HTP but cannot get it now

falling asleep here.. rip van winkle!
