    The Pole is shifting

because of a push and pull between two unusually strong magnetic patches in the Earth’s outer core. One patch is under Canada while the other is beneath Siberia. The North Magnetic Pole has historically lain within Canadian borders because of stronger pull of the Canadian magnetic patch, but that is changing rapidly.

    image.png

Each year the Arctic Circle shifts about 14 metres. The 66.5° line of latitude on map is static, but the magnetic north pole is moving. The circle marks the southern limit of the area where the sun does not set or rise, for at least one day.

This affects Iceland as Arctic Circle currently dissects Grimsey Island, the line is due to move off Grimsey in the next 20 years

I'm not sure that is correct.

Yes, the magnetic North Pole is moving. That it changes has long been known.

The geographic North Pole, which is different and is on the axis that the Earth spins and defines the Arctic Circle does not really move (I understand it can do wonky things in certain earthquake conditions).

The magnetic pole is shifting - and so is the Arctic Circle.

But the first doesn't cause the second as the OP suggested. The Arctic Circle is changing in size because of a wobble in the earth's rotation.

'The position of the Arctic Circle is not fixed and currently runs 66°33′50.3″ north of the Equator.[5] Its latitude depends on Earth's axial tilt, which fluctuates by a margin of some 2° over a 41,000-year period, due to tidal forces resulting from the orbit of the Moon.[6] Consequently, the Arctic Circle is currently drifting northwards at a speed of about 14.5 m (48 ft) per year." The plan was to hide google searches for the Garden Bridge on which £53m was spent and still wouldn't be a public right of way. It's 300m to the West of Blackfriars Bridge.

300m to the East of Blackfriars Railway Bridge is the Millennium Bridge which cost £18.2 million to build (including a £2.2 million overrun)

Beaufort Dyke has about 1.17 million tonnes of nasties. Explosives, poison gas, phosphorus incendiaries, the ole' glow in the dark and anything else that was too dangerous to bury on land. No one is building a bridge or tunnel there anytime soon and in those pre Brexit times 90% of shipments to NI went through Dublin. Trains have different gauge GB rails are 1,435mm apart in NI it's 1,600mm. Must dig up the old isochrone map which shows how remote Stranraer is.

If you do an image search for Jacob Rees-Mogg lying you get lot hits for what appears to be a staged situation with that untruthful person reclining in Parliament. Same technique.

Similar to how he developed a hobby of painting model buses, to try and stop "boris bus" meaning either the overheating, unreliable lumps made in Ballymena; or the bus covered in lies during the referendum.

How The American Electoral College Would Look If It Was Used In Europe

    europe-electoral-college.jpg

    "

In our European example above the Vatican each vote would represent just 255 people whereas in Russia each vote would represent over 2 million people!

Micro states like Monaco, San Marino, Andorra and Liechtenstein would also get 3 each the same as somewhere like Iceland with as much as 10X the population.

So here’s how the numbers work out for Europe as a whole (and someone has also done the work for if only the EU was included)"

OSI Street Map of Dublin 1973, South City, 9th Popular Edition

OSI Dublin Street Map 1973 South City.jpg

Based on a 1972 revision. Extensive suburban development is taking place in the Dundrum/Rathfarnham/Ballinteer areas, Tallaght and Firhouse are beginning to rapidly develop at the lower LHS of the map and most of the South east suburbs from Donnybrook out to Killiney has been built up. The UCD Belfield campus is also rapidly developing with dualling of the N11 Stillorgan road also underway.

There are still large enclaves of undeveloped lands within the southeast city that would later be infilled with new housing in the 1980s and 1990s.

    Zoom in for greater detail.

Map of the routes taken by thousands of plastic "rubber ducks" which were lost at sea when a storm threw them off a cargo container ship back in January 1992.

    FB_IMG_1740179451392.jpg

Over the next 15 years, the location of sightings of the plastic yellow ducks floating on the Pacific Ocean and beyond provided a good map of ocean currents. An unplanned scientific experiment! 🌊🌊🦆🦆

^ And from that map above, and this one below, you can see why Trump is so keen for the Russians to have what they have 'won' in the war. Almost all of the very valuable stuff is in areas that Putin has under his control, or that are in heavily Russian speaking areas.

'Trump Mining Organization' coming soon to a Ukrainian mine near you.

I see from that map that Ireland's tourist industry has been in rapid (and alarming) decline since 2019.

No doubt linked to exorbitant prices driving potential tourists away, those who experienced Rip Off Ireland vowing to never come back, the "refugee" crisis leading to the closure and loss of hotels around the country - and a government that seems not to consider tourism an important element of our economy anymore.

How things have changed - for the worse - over the past 25 years.

The small island of Market in the Gulf of Bothnia, split between Finland and Sweden.

It is the world’s smallest island split between two nations, at only 3.3 hectares in extent. In 1885, Finland accidentally built a lighthouse on Sweden’s side, but being good neighbours, they simply redrew the border in 1985 to fix the issue.

More to do with the impact of two years with very little travel worldwide, I would think.

and how Gibraltar has grown over 300 years

-The original 1713 British territory glows red

-Expansions from 1854 to 1907 spread in yellow, showing Victorian-era ambitions

-Modern growth in green, marking developments up to 2020

-Careful blue lines trace artificial reefs, while a white boundary marks British-claimed waters

In that case it should be similar for everyone, not showing us as huge outliers.

In any event, the map covers six years (2019 - 2024).

Closing hotels is a fairly obvious impediment for tourism in fairness. JupiterKid has it right I think.
