Aawww. Of course my first thought was mulled wine! But then I thought maybe people would say drinks that realistically Irish people actually consume around Christmas and settled on Bailey's as a popular Christmas choice since it's not only drank but consumed in desserts and creams.

I could well end up with my first wooden spoon! :D

Baileys never entered my mind, wouldnt associate it with Christmas. I was torn between wine, eggnog, and sherry, with a dash of port.

    Glad I went with wine.

I was gonna pick eggnog but thought it was more of an American thing.

I don’t even know what eggnog is apart from something in films. And I actually like mulled wine. Stupid answer.

Whats wrong with you people? Mulled wine is delicious, as long as you don't put somethimg weird like liquorice in it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 343 ✭✭Siobh73

I prefer a nice hot fruit punch with a dash of brandy myself...try it and I bet it'll be sheeping next Christmas

Ah f**k it. I was gonna go with Mulled Wine, but then thought most people might go with Eggnog because of american TV shows... I overthunk the s**t out of it...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,941 ✭✭✭osh

I know I flipped between the two. I’d say a lot of mulled wine picks were close to going for eggnog either.

That was a once-off, at a hotel for our work Christmas party. I don't think anyone liked that particular batch. Some recipes call for star anise, which is basically the same flavour and wholly unnecessary.

A bit of orange and cinnamon, and maybe some lemon, is all you really need for a proper delicious Glühwein.

Why waste a perfectly good bottle of wine by firing all that other muck in it????

It's like people putting blackcurrant into pints of Guinness......shame on you all!!!

I went as far as writing 'mulled wi...' in the PM.
Then overthinking it. Then deleting it. Then thinking again. Then decided on Eggnog, and sent my answer fast, because at that stage Baileys had popped into my head I was going to have a breakdown if there was another option to agonize over.

Just a game though, right? :pac:

Haven't seen that, but in general I find Bailey's too sweet and sickly. However I was over in England recently and was given a taste of this. Sweet baby Jebus, it's absolutely incredible, not overly sweet at all. Unfortunately due to our licensing laws they can't sell it here, which is doubly annoying as according to the website the country of origin is Ireland. I see they also now have a mint version. If she were still alive I'd sell my granny to get my hands on a bottle of that.

You can get it in the airport. Well that's where I saw it anyway. Could have just been a promo thingy
