    90 - 58 coming in

Difficult to make calls on the Lions and Colts without knowing if Stafford / Brissett are going to play. Looking forward to Watson vs Jackson in Baltimore as the pick of the slate for me. Foles coming back for the Jags will be interesting and Pats @ Eagles will be close I think.

Feels like Bears/Rams and Steelers/Brown's are the only games without heavy favourites this weekend

    94 - 54 coming in,

Bit of a meh slate with some potentially brilliant matchups
Saint buccs should be fun, Chiefs Chargers could be a very exciting game depending on what Chargers team shows up but the big one this week
Texans vs Ravens, this is gonna be tasty! Might skip redzone and just watch that one for the early slate.

Excellent half from the Browns so far, but can they keep it up? Surely the Steelers can't continue to remain this bad on offense.

Conner and juju are gone to injuries. Can’t see any way back for the Steelers in this one they just don’t have the tools on offence and they are not getting the sacks and interceptions on defence that won them those recent games.

The browns calling 4 straight runs to start the half gives me the idea they are going to try and see this out as opposed to really trying to get the next score. Don’t really like that

Having said that maybe your right and the Steelers just don’t have enough to score 17/21 points this half

I’d give the Steelers a shot with Conner and Juju there but not without them. They are always capable of a defensive score too

Edit: Johnson likely now out as well after that hit. MR literally has nobody left to throw to

There's only so many helmet to helmet strikes you can watch before you have to say it's a problem with them as a team. Randall bitching about being ejected as if it's some massive, mandela-like injustice. They're making themselves very easy to dislike as a team. Tramps to be honest.

Deserved for Randall. Donate Johnson appeared to be bleeding out of his ear. Sickening collision.

Browns killing themselves with flags again. No way Rudolph is beating them tonight without the help from penalties. How are they this undisciplined.

Like this all season. Before beating the opposition, they have to beat themselves first. It's why their record is what it is.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,004 ✭✭✭✭Realt Dearg Sec

And more absolute filth from Garrett and Ogonjobi then to finish it up. Browns have disgraced themselves tonight. Total dirt. For a team everyone wants to see do well, you couldn't see them lose enough games after that. Indiscipline in that scale lands at the head coach's door.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,269 ✭✭✭VillaMad

WTF Myles Garrett! Just beat the Steelers for the first time in 5 years and you go and do that. Will probably be suspended for the rest of the season for that.

That filth started with Rudolph pulling Garretts helmet. If he doesn't pull at it after the (albeit slightly late) hit by Garrett, then it doesn't escalate.

That said, absolutely spot on, no excuse for that from the browns, take your win and get off the field as soon as possible. They have shown themselves to be very undisciplined yet again.

Actually fair play to the hc at the end, looked suitably ashamed of his players behaviour at the end, but he has to ask himself some questions about how his team managed to become that undisciplined. Totally took the good out of the win. Actually never saw a more unhappy winning coach!

Rudolph did pull his helmet to be fair but the hit was very late, and completely excessive to begin with, looked like a lad who lost self control. But either way, hitting him with his own helmet, it's not a good look.

Yeah definitely, he'll have a while to think about it from the sidelines I'm sure.

What is the likely punishment for Garrett? He is so good and their season is on such a knife edge that a 3 week suspension or more and they're toast in my view.

Mayfield's performance troubled me a lot. He only threw for 6.0 ypa and he left a lot of yardage on the field with errant throws. His decision making wasn't bad - it seemed to be an accuracy and execution thing. His receivers are very good and seemed to be getting separation, his OL did okay, yet he still didn't play very well. I really liked Mayfield last year and bought into the hype. But he really needs to get his sh1t together.

it should be at least a 10-12 game suspension I would say, his season is definitely over. I'd be surprised if it didn't carry on to next season.

Moment of pure madness from him

Jaysus. That's a big ban. Amazing to think PED is only four weeks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,173 ✭✭✭cosatron

garrett deserves to miss the rest of the season and 6 games next year. Real scummy act, browns were also headhunting aswell last night. Dorsey really has allot of issues on his hands as he doesn't seem to have many high moral leaders on the books and I thought kitchen's was a poor appointment when he should of really got McCarthy in to steady the ship and work on Mayfield as his jumpy as f**k in the pocket.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 15,721 Mod ✭✭✭✭dfx-

That game was coming for the Steelers in terms of no defensive turnovers and nothing on offense.

But very reminiscent of the Bengals games a few years ago. The helmet-to-helmet hits on Juju and Johnson are as inexcusable to me as the rage at the end.

Garret is starting to build a bit of a bad reputation for himself, the game against the Jets was the only full Browns game I've watched and he had plenty of late hits including one that put Trevor Siemian on IR

Garrett threw a punch earlier in the season as well. I'd say if he wasn't such a media darling due to his high draft position and social media workout videos he would have a bad reputation already.

He will see a big ban but Pouncey should miss a few games also. People will play the 'good teammate' card but you can't be doling out vigilante justice kicking guys in the head while they are pinned on the ground.

It'll be a standard NFL suspension lottery for everyone from last night

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 395 ✭✭rebelyell99

Browns just come across as a tough team to control, too many fiery characters Mayfield,Garrett, beckham. They have the potential to be a good team .pure madness from Garrett yes Rudolph pulled his helmet but it was crazy to react like that.I would be surprised if hes not suspended for the rest of the season.

Agreed, while Pounceys outrage was understandable he struck and attempted to kick an opponent (kick did not connect afaik). He’ll probably get 2-4 games even though he was absolutely right to retaliate IMO

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,064 ✭✭✭KrustyUCC

Will be interesting to see what they do with Garret as I can't recall an incident where a players used his oppositions helmet as a weapon against him

Comparisons to Haynesworth 5 game suspension should be worthless as Garret incident could have seriously injured Rudolph

He should be lucky to only be able to play late in the 2020/21 season

I've wanted to root for the Browns but the organisation is pretty rotten. Dorsey doesn't give a crap about a player's character when it comes to draft and FA and it is now showing on the field. It is made worse by having an inexperienced head coach who is just trying to survive.

Sorry, I just cant agree with that. Out of the whole situation DeCastro was the only person who was 'absolutely right'. He showed great self control to just drag Garrett to the ground and hold him there and that was the right move.

If you start going into some area where Pouncey is in the right to retaliate then you open yourself to an argument to whether Garrett has the right to retaliate on Rudolph, who caused the whole situation going after Garrett after a clearly frustrating night for him. I personally don't agree with that sentiment but when you start understanding and legitimizing retaliation it is a very slippery slope.

Pouncey's comments after the game that his actions were about protection are pure crap. Garrett was on the ground with a 316lbs man on top of him when he started throwing punches and kicks at Garrett's head. It was a complete scumbag response to a complete scumbag action by Garrett.

You've just watched your second QB get hit in the head full force with his helmet by an opposition player. I think that Pouncey felt he was well within his rights as such. I wouldn't be surprised if he got a minimum suspension.

And? He shouldn't retaliate like that. Just like Garrett shouldn't have reacted to Rudolph acting like a little s***. (Seriously on what planet did Rudolph think picking a fight with Garrett would end well for him).

A few deserved bans to go out.

Also why did Tomlin start playing Rudolph like a QB? Just check it down and keep the defense out of terrible situations. Rudolph can't play QB in the NFL properly. Tomlin knew this and played around his weakness (i.e. rarely passing past the line of scrimmage) and the defense kept them in and winning games. Tomlin did great in this regard until this game.

He went too far admittedly but it must be hard to keep your cool after what he saw Garrett do. He will get a suspension I’m sure. Doubt either player will be playing in the rematch in two weeks time. The NFL are all over the place with their disciplinary sanctions so who knows what the punishment will be.
