    1) Favourite Christmas song
The Little Drummer Boy Bing Crosby and David Bowie
    or
    White Christmas

    2) Favourite Christmas movie
    It's a Wonderful Life

Every time a bell rings another angel get their wings"
    or

    ELF

    3) Favourite Christmas food
My mum's Christmas cake or good mince pies

    4) Favourite Christmas tradition - there are a few

Every Christmas choosing new Newbridge decoration for the tree with the kids

Going to see The Snowman with the kids in NCH

I have a book which consists of 25 tiny Christmas story book decorations in it for the tree and we read one every night then hang it on the tree

Christmas Elf this I love as they get up to awful mischief

Decorating the house and tree stays up longer then it should

Just wondering do ye do Secret Santa or Kriskindle here?

I used to take part in it on another Irish website was good fun

    Favourite Christmas song:

It’s beginning to look a lot like christmas..can play that super early and have already had it on much to everyone’s annoyance.
Driving home for Christmas.. real nostalgic and play it on loop on the road home from work on the 23rd or 24th.
Silent night.. not religious(still love Christmas!!) but just a beautiful song

    2) Favourite Christmas movie

Elf.. a modern classic and can watch over and over
Die Hard (it is a Christmas movie!!)
A Christmas Carol (Patrick Stewart version). Have high hopes for the new BBC adaptation this year.

    3) Favourite Christmas food
    Gotta be the turkey
A bottle of bubbly (it qualifies)
Selection box for breakfast (a tradition since childhood)

    4) Favourite Christmas tradition
Going to see Santa with the kids in the lead up to build the excitement.
Opening a bottle with the wife Christmas Eve when the kids are in bed.
Simply trying to make Christmas magical for the kids, they grow up so quick and Christmas seems to come around faster each year.

    Not an easy thread.
    1) Favourite Christmas song
Carol of the bells, it just stirs up something magical. But by no means a landslide win, so many others are great also.

    2) Favourite Christmas movie
So bloody hard. Home alone, Christmas vacation or scrooged/Christmas carol.
I will go with Christmas vacation.

    3) Favourite Christmas food
Ham. It is not very often we get ham, and when we do it's never any good (I have lived in Muslim countries for a long time). With some gluten free pork stuffing. Drooling here.

    4) Favourite Christmas tradition
Meeting my pals in the same pub/restaurant on the 23rd of December every year. This year the date will change but the venue and the people will not.

    1. Have got three and can't choose right now:

Fairytale of NY; Driving home for Christmas and 2000 Miles

    2. It's Wonderful Life - but I am happy with a lot of 80s and 90s movies that have got a Christmas scene in them, like You've Got Mail for example

    3. I only ever had a few Irish traditional Christmas Dinners and from memory I have also got to say: stuffing !
Actually, I wonder why you guys don't just cook a huge loaf of stuffing, with a couple of slices of turkey on the side !

    4. Too many ! One is admiring Christmas Cribs

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,893 ✭✭✭tusk

    Wow. Tough one.

    1. Little drummer boy (off the top of my head, there are probably others, but i'll need a think)

    2. Miracle on 34th street

    3. My annual forray into dessert making for christmas day - Pear and Raspberry meringue tartlets :P

    4. Don't have many traditions I can think of. We're trying to make our own. Maybe telling each other that we don't want anything and there's a limit of one present, and then both of us completely disregarding that anyway hahahah. I also love that we buy each other christmas jammies and put together a christmas eve box with sweets and things to chill out with that night :D

Song: Driving home for Christmas - for personal nostalgic reasons. And Oh Holy Night in memory of a dear friend who sang it beautifully.

Movie: Difficult. Perhaps It's a Wonderful life at a push.

Food: Our Christmas Pudding, closely followed by mince pies.

Tradition: Lighting a candle in the window on Christmas Eve as a welcome to strangers. My parents did it, we do it, and our children now do it. It's lit by the youngest person in the house on the night.

Love traditions like this. Passed from generation to generation.

Song: Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth

Movie: Muppet's Christmas Carol & Narrow Escape

    Food: Sausage Meat Stuffing

Traditions: Now we are all grown up, we are making our own traditions so for now, it's going to my parents on St. Stephen's Day. When we were kids, we used to always go up to my Grandparents on Christmas Night with all my aunts, uncles & cousins. I was only thinking of it the other day and wishing we could have one more Christmas Night with everyone

    2) Favourite Christmas movie
Elf. It's just such a classic.

    3) Favourite Christmas food
Stuffing. My dad always makes extra stuffing when I'm home for Christmas.

    4) Favourite Christmas tradition
Christmas Eve at home with my husband. We order something delicious to eat and crack open whatever boozy stout we've saved for the occasion and my husband gives me new Christmas jammies and we watch something festive (like Die Hard :pac:) on TV. We're only at home every second Christmas Eve but the beer and Christmas jammies happen regardless of where we are!

    Favourite Christmas song:
Ive great memories of being in the pub on Christmas eve with all my friends belting out Fairytale of New York .I get excited when I hear it for the first time when I'm out and about.

    Favourite Christmas movie:
A Muppets Christmas Carol. I watch it every year

    Favourite Christmas food:

My Dad's home made croquettes. They're as big as tennis balls but fried in fresh oil they come out crispy and the mash inside stays lovely. My grandad used to make them then when he passed my Dad took over.

    Favourite Christmas tradition:
I don't really have a specific tradition. I love catching up with everyone and usually there's a board games night in my house with the family at some point over the season.
