Still on the fence about coming back, but this looks quite interesting.

Feature light it seems, but maybe they are focusing on fixing what's there already?

I'm really excited about it! I came back to WoW about 5 months ago after 4 years off and I'm really enjoying BfA, even though I know it hasn't been everyone's cup of tea

BFA has been really enjoyable for me. Shadowlands launching late September so really looking forward to that as well.

Launch date is October 26th at 11pm Irish time. The pre-patch should be the end of September.

I've booked the day after launch off from work to play. I'll probably regret it though when the servers get crowded and I can't log on! I'm really looking forward to it

The last expansion I played at launch was Warlords of Draenor and I don't remember having too many problems logging on so hopefully it'll be grand

Sorry, that was a typo. Meant October!

Yeah this will be the first one I'll actually play from the start since Pandaria, which I really enjoyed. Gave most of Warlords a pass, and didn't play during Legion at all really. I'm not really an endgame player so most of what I've seen in BFA has been great. The questlines are really cool and the war campaign was great, I thought.

Seems that there's quite a few class changes coming in Shadowlands. Also interested to see how the levelling works - level cap is moving to 50 and when levelling a new toon, you pick an expansion to level in. Really looking forward to that.

Me too. I have an alt I've been levelling but am holding off now until the pre-patch.

I don't really do a huge amount of end game stuff either so also enjoyed BFA. I stopped playing a bit into Warlords (I had two babies in quick succession!), missed Legion entirely and came back a year into BFA.

My 7 year old really likes WoW now too so for the first time I'll have an audience when playing a new expansion I think. He plays (with parental controls and supervision) and has a 110 character but we wouldn't buy the new expansion for him but he's going to want to see what it's all about. My husband plays too so it's turning into a fun family thing.

resubed getting ready for prepatch cleared out the bank sold most of my matts before they go worthless before shadowlands got a nice 70k out of it hehehe. Not sure which to main going into SL, i usually play boomkin/tank druid. Considering rogue for a change of pace.

Welcome back! I can't get into the druid at all. I have 5 max level characters (including a druid that I boosted) but I main ret paladin and will keep doing that I think. My husband has had a rogue as a main but recently got into his demon hunter - he's just really enjoying it.

I found out over the weekend that our holiday we already postponed twice and was now supposed to be in January has been postponed again (flight cancellations). So I've cancelled the leave I had booked for that and will take a week off in October for Shadowlands instead - that week coincides with the kids mid-term break which is good I'll have time with them but also means no peace to play!

    Shadowlands launches 24th Nov 2020.

I've gotten a fair few classes to 50 (new max lvl) over the last week, in prep for Shadowlands. Not sure yet what my new main will be, and torn between my Paladin (as it's been my character since day 1), Hunter and Druid.

Time to resub and get ready I guess. Not like there much else to do with my spare time:(

Currently experiencing the Legion zones for the first time which is great. They're really nice - the questing is very smooth there, similar to BFA. Really liking this new levelling system they've added!

Hate going back into WOW after a long break, always forget my rotations, etc and have to relearn. Its hard to believe that if the 16th Anniversary of WOW. I remember when it was first released I was completely blown away by the game.

No game left such an impression on me as much as wow back then.
    Mind blown like yourself.

Walking into the big cavern in the Deadmines for the first time was something really special. Proper wow moment, no pun intended.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,841 ✭✭✭Glebee

No matter what they try to do, nothing will ever recreate those first weeks playing wow,

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 14,723 Mod ✭✭✭✭Dcully

Ill probably jump in as i do with every expansion , this time as with the last time i will be avoiding raids as i cannot commit to one sitting of x amount of hours regularly to do it properly so im hoping casual content will keep me playing longer this time round.

That Scourge event was pretty short but fun nonetheless. Had forgotten what a great zone Icecrown is!

Have to use up a days AL from work before Christmas. Think I might take Wednesday off and get stuck in...

Don't you mean tomorrow? Launches at 11pm tonight.

Though not playing on launch night is never a bad idea.

Yeah im not expecting the servers to hold tonight at all, or tomorrow for that matter. The servers have been ropey for awhile now, so i very much doubt things will go smoothly, especially since theres already lag on the servers :(

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 23,281 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kiith

Already pretty laggy, so i expect a pretty rough few hours. Won't bother myself, but will play a few hours tomorrow during work.

PC is still busted so wont be playing this until early next year. Will have to live vicariously through you guys.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 23,281 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kiith

Got an hour or two done this morning, and the new zones look good. Think i'll restart on one of my other classes though, as i'm not sure i want to level the Paladin. Would be the first time not getting my Pally to max first though, so feels weird :P Warlock or Hunter probably.

Remember to log in all your characters briefly, to start the rested XP.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 14,723 Mod ✭✭✭✭Dcully

As always i avoided the initial hours of launch, got in now and its butter smooth.
I spent the weekend getting 8 toons shadowlands ready, 4@ lvl 50 4@ lvl 48.
Starting off with sub rogue as its a total blast to play but im very torn between it and marksman hunter which is also great fun to play.
One of these will probably be my main,.
If i bother to lvl up anymore it will most likely be ret paladin or shadow priest [although i mained priest for too many years] but shadow is totally transformed in shadowlands.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 23,281 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kiith

Ok, definitely not my Paladin anyway. He's strong enough, but i just don't like the flow of Ret at the moment...not sure what it is. Currently trying the BM hunter, so will see how that goes.

How did the servers hold up? Going to log in tonight. I nearly burned myself out getting those boss drops in ICC

Seems to be working fine from what ive seen. Not been on a lot though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,841 ✭✭✭Glebee

Ive not really got stuck into this yet, played a bit on and off over the last few days, done the first dungeon but ive not feeling any love toward this setting at all.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 23,281 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kiith

Same here. Been jumping between character trying to find a main, but i think i just don't really enjoy the game anymore. Either that or i'm just a bit burned out after playing it a decent amount before the expansion.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 14,723 Mod ✭✭✭✭Dcully

Ive settled on marksman hunter as main.
They have worked wonders with this spec and its great fun to play in dungeons and Torghast.
Out in the world doing world content i run with BM hunter for easy mode.

Torghast is my hope for keeping me playing along with mythic dungeons, so far Torghast is fun and i love the concept of infinite dungeon.
Eventually i hope it will be a wow version of rifts and greater rifts in diablo3.

Im messing around with shadow priest and sub rogue too leveling them with the threads of fate feature which is great.
It was raiding that kept me playing for so long until i just lost interest in raiding, my hope is solo content or small group content will keep me interested.
It is 100% the most alt friendly and solo player friendly expansion yet.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 23,281 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kiith

Funnily enough, i went back to the Paladin and started really enjoying it again. Hit 60 today, though still haven't even started Revendreth. Looking forward to trying some of the end game systems, specifically Torghast.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 14,723 Mod ✭✭✭✭Dcully

So ive done everything the game has to offer and it was a mixed bag.
Leveling in the new zones was enjoyable enough.
The Maw [so called endgame zone]is probably the worst thing they have added to the game ever, it is so bad,how did they think anyone would find it fun?
Torghast whioch was my big hope to keep subbed is nothing more than a gimmick to farm your soul ash which is only part of what you need for your legendaries instead of random legendary drops.
It was fun the first few times then got terribly repetitive very quickly.
I got my week one legendary, completed two weeks of mythic lockouts and it was full of toxic little kiddies which is nothing new to wow.
Ofcourse guild runs were 10x better, i really enjoyed them.
The game is full of currencies for this for that, its gone stupid now.

The mythic dungeons while nice looking offer nothing new at all, only 8 in the game is not enough to keep me playing, thats only 4 hours play time per week at the most.
Then they have the campaign time gated off and compulsory , fcuk that ****e.
Its a shame as some of the classes play so much better than ever.
The game is already seeing a massive drop off with most guilds struggling to form raid /mythic teams, twitch viewership dropped dramatically too [which always a good reflection on a games popularity]
If your into raiding then yes it would be worth it.
Overall i wont be staying subbed as ive no interest in raiding.

I started to level 2 alts then got to the point of why bother? It just didnt grab me but then the last two expansions failed to do so too, maybe im burned out.

Been dipping in and out of Shadowland since launch. Almost lvl 60 and still in Ardenweald. Not into raiding or alts and only done a few starting dungeons. Will stay going until 3 month sub ends at end of Jan but id say at that stage ill be gone from wow again.

I'm loving Shadowlands so far! Just really into it after BFA got very monotonous. I think the timing of it has been a big thing for me. It's a time when we can't really go out and the social aspect of the game has been invaluable.

Myself and some friends have just set up a new casual raiding guild on Kazzak called "I Got Bills". There's 12 of us at the moment and we're clearing Nathria and M+ etc and generally having a laugh while we're in lockdown. We're currently looking for likeminded people to join us.

A few of us have kids and all have real life responsibilities that get in the way of WoW so it's all very laid back. We are currently raiding one night a week from 8.30pm Irish time and gearing up with M+ other nights, or doing fun things like achivement and mount hunting.

We're a mix of long term casual players, new players and veterans, some couples and a good mix of men and women. We're mostly Irish with a few Brits thrown in. We're not elitist in the slightest, our motto is "we'll wipe until we all get it" and we like to have a laugh at ourselves. Your dps, spec, experience and covenant are of little interest to us, if you're friendly, helpful and fun you'll fit right in. If you have never raided before or don't have much experience playing in a group, or you are just looking for a social guild and aren't interested in raiding that's totally fine.

Personally, I changed servers just before Shadowlands launched to play with some of these friends (I discovered by chance they play WoW!). Before that I had never raided and had barely done any dungeons, even on normal as I wasn't interested in how toxic playing with randoms can sometimes be and I lacked the confidence. Having a core group to play with has changed my WoW experience imeasureably and I'm having a blast. So if you are looking for fun people to play with send me a pm or look us up using the guild finder! Migration isn't necessary either, come join us for a few dungeons or a raid and see if you like what you see.

Resubbed, completely lost again after a two month break.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,348 ✭✭✭PropJoe10

The best way to progress is really to just follow the Covenant campaign quests.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,841 ✭✭✭Glebee

Im done with warcraft again. Forgot to unsub so got 20 days left but have not logged on in a few days now and dont think I will. The Maw area is painfull and Torghast gets old quick imo. Did mess around a bit with classic though. Was wow that hard back when it was originally released? I cant remember. Its like a different game.
