    Cardiff:
    Matthew Morgan; Jason Harries, Rey Lee-Lo, Garyn Smith, Aled Summerhill; Jarrod Evans, Lloyd Williams (capt);
Corey Domachowski, Liam Belcher, Scott Andrews, Josh Turnbull, Rory Thornton, Shane Lewis-Hughes, Olly Robinson, Will Boyde.

Replacements: Kirby Myhill, Brad Thyer, Keiron Assiratti, Seb Davies, Nick Williams, Lewis Jones, Jason Tovey, Willis Halaholo.

    Munster:
    Shane Daly; Calvin Nash, Sammy Arnold, Dan Goggin, Alex Wootton; JJ Hanrahan, Alby Mathewson;
Jeremy Loughman, Kevin O’Byrne, Keynan Knox; Fineen Wycherley, Darren O’Shea; Jack O’Donoghue (C), Chris Cloete, Arno Botha.

Replacements: Diarmuid Barron, Liam O’Connor, Stephen Archer, Jed Holloway, Conor Oliver, Nick McCarthy, Tyler Bleyendaal, Rory Scannell.

Conference A clash as Cardiff host Munster at the Arms Park. Cardiff have started the season poorly and will need points quite urgently to catch-up with the top 4 sides in the table.

Shane Daly starts in an unfamiliar position in Munster colours at fullback. After being installed as Munster's third choice tighthead prop for Europe, Keynan Knox gets a start. JJ Hanrahan is selected over Bleyendaal with Joey Carbery's availability for the next few games up in the air.

Knox, Wooton and Arnold make their first starts of the season, with Oliver due to make his first appearance of the season off the bench

Feels very much like a "B" team to me, I've gone from pretty confident of a win to a lot less so looking at that team.

    Cardiff side

Lee-Lo and and Halaholo always seem to play well against Munster

Daly starting at fullback and Knox being the starting tighthead are the big surprises.
Looking forward to seeing how they go.

Also, Barron and Oliver to come off the bench, interested to see if they can put their hand up for selection going forward.

    that's a fairly mobile team!

It's a contract year for Oliver, he'll need to make the most of any opportunities.

Seems like a fairly light weight team to me.

I'll watch from behind the couch.

    Definitely. Munster were -4 pre-lineups, now they're +2.

Yeah, I think he should be pushing past Cloete this season, and with Hodnett coming up from the academy and TOD still around he’ll need to be very impressive to have any chance of staying at Munster next season.

Serious wind, JJ knows this and puts in THAT kick...

    Cloete you gem!

Tackler never released. I've a feeling this ref will be killing us.

Botha is like a different player this year

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,874 ✭✭✭shootermacg

Jack is making a habit of that :D

    Mathewson keeping them honest.

Am I dreaming or are we seeing some creative Munster attacking?

Excellent play from Kevin O Byrne

This season their attacking has been noticably better.

Sometimes I'm accused of bwing over optimistic but we're definitely going to win the Heineken Cup this year

Three times now Paddy Wallace has called a player the wrong name (twice for Munster)
Impressive he's collecting a pay cheque for this.

Second poor kick, no brains behind it.

Shur they're all wearing the same thing!

It's idiotic ****e like turning over the ball for free with a minute on the clock that drives me nuts.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,599 ✭✭✭ScrubsfanChris

    Poor end to the half.
All they had to do was hold onto the ball for 40 seconds, instead kick it away for 10 metres territory.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,366 ✭✭✭yerrahbah

    Not a bad half.

Alby giving away a penalty at an attacking 5m scrum and giving Cardiff back the ball with 20 seconds left on the clock very frustrating.

Nice variation in attack and the wind seems a big factor. Could get a win here

He sounds so bored too. A plethora of ex pros out there and they pick absolute dross.

Wind seems to have eased a bit 2nd half judging by the kicks so far

Poor play at the end of the 1st half has led into the 2nd

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,985 ✭✭✭budhabob

Good try made by JJ and good support by KOB

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,599 ✭✭✭ScrubsfanChris

    That's more like it!

    Munster attacking space, it's refreshing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,874 ✭✭✭shootermacg

Well done Mathewson, kept the tempo high there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,366 ✭✭✭yerrahbah

Nice work from JJ and Arnold there

KOB is so good in the loose

Ref was looking at and shouting at the Cardiff player for about 10 seconds in the lead up to that before playing advantage

Pass from Morgan on the wing was forward.

    Whew.

Well done ref. TMO must have been bored off his face up there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,799 ✭✭✭eigrod

    Well done ref

TMO would want a word with himself. The Cardiff player was more culpable there lowering the head into the tackle.
    Good referee ignoring it.

Now they did miss the no arms tackle from Arnold a phase or 2 after I think.

Wind seems to be blowing across the pitch now rather than form one end to another

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,874 ✭✭✭shootermacg

WTF? Is JJ trying to kill birds with his kicks? Terrible kicking, just terrible!

Wind at his back and couldn't kick it 20m down field

    Lovely little line from Nash.

    Nice break from Scannell,

Nice delay on the pass from Alby and line from Nash
