On the same note does anyone have any recommendations for any nice hotels outside the city, thinking Connemara area?

Ballynahinch is easily the nicest hotel in Connemara.

Anybody have a suggestion for a hotel/castle/country house or a family meet up before Christmas. Looking for somewhere in Galway/Mayo/Sligo area.

Just had a look at ballynahinch castle there but its out of our budget.

Station House Hotel in Clifden is pretty nice but the town is pretty much dead from October-April Not bad for a cheap getaway outside the tourist season though.

Ballynahinch castle looks stunning, thinking something a little more casual though!

I like the Abbeyglen Castle in Clifden. Very comfortable, homely, good food and not too expensive. https://www.abbeyglen.ie/

Connemara Sands hotel about ten mins past Clifden. Never stayed but do deliver there and it seems nice.

Ballinahinch is fab but high end
Renvyle House is lovely, more casual and very geared towards families with loads of activities, and beaches very near by - would be mid range but you can get off season deals
Station house is nice, has a pool which helps when it's raining. Clifden is nice in the off season, very quiet but I prefer it as it's not as crowded. There are fantastic places to walk in every direction you drive, from beaches to the national park or the Marconi walk. And fab food in Guys bar in Clifden.
