Sounds stupid but I really wonder. What made me think of this was how in my college, things seem stereotypical, the programming class has the fewest girls and the nursing class the fewest boys. Also in one of my modules, the girls don't seem at all interested in discussing politics yet the boys do.

There's a debate about whether these differences are the result of parents unconsciously treating kids differently growing up or perhaps that testosterone/estrogen influence brain development and personality choices. Perhaps it's the single sex schools.

Men and women are different in many ways and the same in many ways.

Answer is yes. For starters, male brain more attunded to motion while female brain more attuned to facial nuances. Hence premier league and make-up.

But you'll most likely find the best in the field of make-up are men. Actually that's pretty much the same with anything.

Women may cook more but the best professions are male, etc...

Yes I think female and male brains are programmed differently, but I also think that a certain percentage of the differences are conditioned through what society expects of people.

Its not a competition.. but, as a man, do you have a desire to wear make up on occasions big or small?

There are about 7.3bn human brains in this world. No two are exactly alike

    According to Miles Cholmondley-Warner, yes!

There are certain characteristics and personality traits more correlated with the two genders but every single human is unique and will not always share those personality traits with others just because they are the same gender

I believe the most recent studies show practically no difference. Apperent differences are purely conditioning.

Go way out of that conditioner isn’t only for girls it’s not 1950.

I have black skin so to be fair, makeup doesn't exactly "work".

Yes they are. In many ways. Bell curves are relevant here, in that the differences are particularly at extremes. But in any case men tend to have larger brains, larger amygdalae, women have larger hippocampuses -hippocampi(?), and more connectivity between the hemispheres. There are loads of other differences eg women pattern recognise better, men respond to speed better. It ain't fashionable but men and women are different. Thank God.

A womans brain is a third the size of a man's, its science!

You need only look at the parts of the world where people enjoy freedom of choice to see the differences in general between the male brain and the female brain...

It is farcical to suggest otherwise, look into the Kibbutz in Isreal, over 100 years ago they attempted to remove gender roles and "Patriarchal" influences (they separated all kids from their parents who all lived in separate dwellings) and within two generations guess what happened...the women wanted to work in service and live with their kids and the men did all the farming and technology!

You can fight the Patriarchy all day long...but Mother Nature is undefeated!

Actually Jordan Peterson said the biggest differences in males/females were in Scandinavian countries.

Harry Enfield explicitly explained that men and women brains are different.

Loads of experts on here! Truth is I have no idea. But I would think social norms, expectations, and perceptions would play a part. Haven’t the most recent studies indicated that the differences (eg males wired to be mathematical/spatial & women wired for language) are exaggerated if non existent? Our brains have some specs when we’re born but much of the wiring is also built as we grow and develop.

Yes, not just biologically, but socially.

If advertisers want to directly talk to men, they use a bloke to convey the message to increase delivery success, and thus end product sales targets.
e.g. Bought some Ronseal once after the geeza' on the advert said: 'Ronseal, it does exactly what it says on the tin'. Good enough.

The same size as a squirrels brain according to Borat in that scene with the feminists.

    I don't think he's an expert though.

Even if men and women had identical brains, a lot of brain function is governed by neurotransmitters and hormones. Dopamine, prolactin, androgens, estrogens - the make and female baseline levels of these chemicals are generally very different. So an identical brain would behave differently depending on whether it inhabited an endocrine-typical male or female body.

In the 2016 Census, 445,500 women are recorded as being homemakers, as against 9,200 men. Why would that be? Every family could make the opposite choice. And young women are more highly educated than men, so they would be just as qualified to reverse the order of things.

    Yes very.

Men have larger brains for a start.

Some areas of the brain are sexually differentiated and some are not.

There are also differences in activation patterns.

Men have a more laterialized brain. Men have more grey matter in the bilateral amygdala, hippocampus, and anterior parahippocampal gyri.

Women have more grey matter in the frontal pole, inferior and middle frontal gyrus, anterior cingulate gyrus, and lateral occipital cortex.

    There are also hormonal differences.

Female and male brains are structurally anatomically and hormonally different.

It's more they use their brain differently, men use the left side of the brain a lot more than the right where women use the right side just as much
