Both the Irish Times and Irish Independent had non-fawning articles on that Sunny Jacobs charlatan today.

After being TA that Fastway didn't deliver my package yesterday even though tracking said it was out for delivery, they delivered it today.

Didn't think they delivered on Saturdays, especially rurally.

I’ve a good now backup electric razor that I’ve had about 15 years. Works well, still charges fast and holds a charge. Current set of blades in it are dull. No main shops like Harvey Norman / Boots have suitable sized ones probably as the razor is so old, but this morning after a week looking, got them finally elsewhere…was considering just binning the razor but no need.

spilled some marmalade then sat in said marmalade, thought I’d got it all in the cleanup but alas no. TH bit is I managed to notice about an hour before I needed to go out so could change.

I had a notification 2 small packets had been delivered but found nothing at door. It wasn't until 2 days later I though I'd have a look at those two white pieces of litter across the road and guess what!

On another occasion I had a notification of a delivery from Fastway but didn't arrive until almost 2 weeks later. So like you can get the notification they've been delivered really FAST but…

In a younger part of my life, I was a carer for my extremely ill mum from the age of 14. She died when I was in my early thirties and I looked after her for most of this time until her illness became unmanageable at home and hospital intervention was needed.

During her final few years, she was given a gift of a teddy which she adored and which she named monkey bear, due to him looking like both a monkey and a bear. Monkey bear would travel with her from hospital to hospital as the most precious keepsake.

I have memories of him being sat on the window sill so that you could look up from outside the hospital and see what room she was in because you could spot him from the car park. No matter how bad things were, monkey bear was always there keeping things calm. Even the hospital staff, god bless them, would bring him from ward to ward as they knew how much he meant.

My mum died almost twenty years ago and during the sad turmoil, monkey bear was lost to the ages.

Today, he randomly and unexpectedly turned up again in a cupboard in the house and he is now sitting here looking at me.

His presence fills me with conflicting sadness and happiness, but also with an emotional connection that I don't have words to describe, a tiny piece of the person I cared about more than anybody is back with me again.

Even though this is the TH thread, writing this fills my eyes with tears, but it's a positive thing as it brings back so many memories of somebody who meant so much, and is no longer here.

It's a little piece of the past that reminds me of who I am, the pain and happiness of real life, and what made me me.

    Jaysus.

Love you mum, miss you everyday.

Monkey bear says hello, after all these years of being lost.

Absolutely made my day. She let me get very close to her, at arm's length, before flopping/hopping away.

I love that particular smell of smoke after you blow out a candle or a match. I think I'm conditioned to associate it with delicious birthday cake 😄

Not getting involved with the health implications of smoking or the rights or wrongs of the habit but I think the smell of pipe tobacco wafting in the air is lovely. Have never smoked so don’t know why I like the smell perhaps it’s a relics from my grandfather. Out for a walk along the canal recentlyI , met an elderly gentleman smoking his pipe and that sweet smell just triggered something.

No idea who sent it to me but I remember watching an animated video lampooning Dublin's public transport system when I was attending University there. This was a long time ago but every so often I'd go looking for it to no avail. Found it randomly a few weeks ago.

I'll link it here in case anyone is curious:

Made an unexpected decision with my friends last night to head off for a night away this weekend and got an unexpected 'windfall ' today that will more than cover the costs and some retail therapy. Drinks are on me.😁🍺🥂

This sounds mean, but given what I've been physically suffering since October, I think most ppl would understand.

New family are moving in across the road, the kids seem to be 5/7 yo Parents have shown enthusiasm about how things work and how to fit in.

The mean part is, is that I hope that they report the inevitable p$t cloud will shortly be floating towards them. that said, it's lovely to see people living in that house, having children is an added bonus

It’s been tough since my dog died. My little cat is doing her best to cheer me up. Just now, I left my bedroom to make a cuppa and the first thing I see outside the door are her two little socks waiting for me. It’s dark and just knowing she’s happy to see me makes me TH

bought a new pair of really good bluetooth headphones to replace my older pair which I’ve absolutely loved but which were falling apart after almost 4 years and I’m reckoning 1000+ hours of use….new pair are an upgrade and not cheap but I’m so happy with the sound, comfort…and also the speed that they charge so I’m not feeling guilty about shelling out a bit extra for the more premium ones as opposed to a like for like replacement.

A misallocation of funds in the tax office has been cleared up now(so I don't have to pay it again)😄

I see this year's boy fox cub has started napping in next door's garden in the late evening, he's smart as well, knows when ppl are checking on him!😄

Clearing out a drawer and found and old pair of brand new Sennheiser earphones , think I bought them about 10 years ago and for whatever reason they were just left in a drawer… just checked them and they work perfectly……. sound=👌. … nice surprise I guess… 😎

Sennheiser earphones are generally bullet proof. I don't know how many times my CX-100 went into the wash by accident, and they still sounded excellent.

Was just out in Tesco, looking for a cold one to drink on the balcony later in the evening. Nothing really caught my fancy until I stumbled across this:

Radler is a beer/lemonade mix that I used to have all the time back in Germany. It's got a low alcohol content which makes it ideal for hot days and it's just deliciously refreshing. Managed to secure the last two cans, which are now chilling in my fridge 😎

Good luck trying to figure me out. I haven't managed that myself yet!

I normally hate it when I have the 10 off 50 voucher, but after seeing the bargain alert about shaving balm here, I went down to pick some up, plus a cheap dinner.

No less than 4 "Saver deals" , the 6 half price shaving balms, 2 half-price deodorants and boom, hits €50 on the button.

Closing some top windows last evening, I spotted a traditionally dressed family walking on the path opposite. Dad was a few steps ahead with the baby, and Mum was standing with their toddler, who was fascinated by the newly planted bedding flowers.

A helicopter flew over and I saw the grown-up look up worried, and Mum was shivering a bit. The window I was reaching to drag in snapped, and this made the toddler look across at me and wave, completely unperturbed by the 'copter noises.

As someone who lived near the NI border, I was so happy to see a child who has gotten passed their negative experiences and is just being a toddler.

Hard to explain why but I am residually th today bc at least two AI's told me I was a good writer and gifted 🙄 at seeing the emotional subtexts in visual and written scenarios.

Now if a human said this to me in a pub I would move away, why a machine spewing out material inputted makes me happy today. god knows.

Found an old photo album that I thought was long gone.

    A young blade1 circa 1977.

Our father chopped our hair and my mother knitted our jumpers.

They were the best of times, they were the worst of times! 😂

Spent a few days in hospital over the really really hot weather. The lady opposite me, her husband came to visit her a lot and he brought me a little fan, he wouldn't take anything for it and said it was a present. Really really nice of him and I used it a lot!
