    Large-scale renewable energy schemes (mass solar panels, tidal generation etc. ) fall into the 'could do, but too expensive' category. Might change as carbon taxes rise though.

    Nuclear fusion power is the classic 'can't do at any price'. Decades of investment, yet still nothing practical.
