    https://github.com/hectorm/hblock

Tried this for the first time today.
It is comprehensive ..... 145,613 domains blocked!

I have disabled my ad-blockers while testing, and so far, no ads.

Have you tried pihole? I swear by it, I have it running in docker on a Centos server for network wide blocking. It even blocks ads on my daughter's iPhone

No, I have not tried it, although aware of it.
    Looks like impressive stats.

Yeah the reason the blocking stat is so high is that my wife likes to play a game on her phone which is riddled with tracking and adverts. Looking at the stats I can tell exactly when she's been playing :D

I'm using the ticked lists in pihole from here https://v.firebog.net/hosts/lists.php

+1 for PiHole, it's an excellent piece of kit - I use mine for Ad Blocking, as well as my DHCP server, running on a Raspberry PI

Two interesting projects I was not aware of .. thanks!

Also of interest to me was the license pi-hole is distributed under, namely EUPL. Wiki tells me it's around since 2007 but it was not a license I've encountered before so also interesting!

Now, I need to dig out an old pi to start playing around. :)

No need for a pi, run it in a vm or in docker on anything

But you still need to run your VM or Docker on something, right? PIs work for me because they are small, cheap, headless and easy to hide

Yes, but if he's like me and into stuff like this he will already have other stuff running on something running all of the time

Peppermint OS uses hblock as their new ad blocker app (via the hosts file).
