A Question About Crows?

Howdee all. A total novice, noob question on crows. I've been over and back to Spain a good bit over the last few years, north and south, and no sign of a crow anywhere. Now that I think of it, I can't remember seeing any in Italy either, but can't recall if there were crows in Belgium and in northern France when I was there.
The channel wouldn't be too far "as the crows flies", so how come there aren't any crows on the continent?
In Andalucia, I noticed magpies etc, but not a single crow, and cockatoos only by the sea....
Also, I didn't notice seagulls in every town by the sea, only in some....

I'm only talking about Andalusia, Basque Country and Rioja. Not one did I see in the cities, and in the south, none. (None in Rome either) Maybe they don't venture into cities in other countries?

Based on the maps in those links, they definitely haven't spread as far as Rome. Don't know about the rest.

Crows, or corvids, cover a massive range right around the globe but they tend to favour more temperate areas and avoid the extremes of heat and cold. We're in that sweet spot.
