Any Forest in the waterford area, that is ok to walk your dog in.

The minaun is grand spot for dogs

Park in car park and you can go down around and back in loop to the car park. Also you can continue walking on the road past car park and up forestry lane and go left when you get to the telecom tower which brings you to a lovely view called Cromwell's rock down over the river to passage and hook head.

Have you tried the King's Channel riverside walk? Park down by entrance to King's Channel estate and go down to the river and turn left. Lovely views along river bank and if you keep going, it takes you through wooded area along bank until you reach the ESB substation in Freshfield. Go up the side of the substation into Freshfield, up the hill, turn left back down Maypark Lane to your car. Lots of dogwalkers and walkers without dogs around so its very safe. Worth a try.

If you are looking for a forest you'll probably have to go up to the comeraghs,but there is plenty of woods around Waterford.

Like others have said Faithlegg woods is decent but a lot of it has been cut down,Colligan woods outside Dungarvan is a really nice walk,and Crough woods is also a really great walk with your dog.

Outside of Waterford you have Kelly's woods in New Ross very nice down there lots of people walking dogs,and Just out Clonmel on the Waterford/Tipp border you have Carey's Castle very nice there too,and further afield down in Lismore you could go to the Two Towers.

I’m almost certain that Cromwells Rock is across the river in Christendom. Just opposite the Tower Hotel.

Ya could be right. One of the best spots in the county.from up there Passage looks it could be swallowed by the river at any time.

3 other good non-forest spots for walking dogs and letting them off the lead without getting a load of hassle;
1. Creadon Beach (also called Forenought Beach) - Its down a boreen between Dunmore East and Woodstown
2. Kilbarry Eco Park - there's a path beaten in the grass around the perimeter of the upper section where you're dog won't put in or out on anyone. NOT the tarmacked lower walkway/cycleway - keep him/her on a leash there.
3. The undeveloped fields in the Butlerstown IDA park - opposite Whitfield Hospital
