Scar triangle on arm

Who here has the vaccination scars on their arm (three sideways oval kinda yokes in the shape of a triangle) on the upper arm?

I do. Born in late 80s. My friends do, my mum does, and my foreign friends think it’s weird.

It’s from the BCG vaccination that you get in Ireland when you are a baby, and possibly something against smallpox as well.

Haven’t noticed them in years until somebody pointed them out.

    Weird baby scars!

I have 2 dots that look like eyes. I remember one of them bursting and yellow gunk coming out.

That was the mercury that Monsanto put in it.

I think I must have missed some vaccinations because I don't have those scars but I'm in the age bracket that should.

Two dots on top of the arm are for polio?

Or was that the ubiquitous sugar lump?

I don't have this, I do remember getting some kind of vaccine though in primary school though.

I remember one with a series of dots shaped like a circle.

    It's cooties vaccine, don't panic.

Circle, circle, dot, dot now you've got your cooties shot. ;)

So if anyone has only 3, they haven't been fully protected against cooties so please be careful people!

I got this but it's because I had a frozen Laughing Cow lobbed at me when I was a child.

    I have the triangle also.

What type of needles did they use to cause the scars?

Have you any time unaccounted for, or been probed by an unexpected guest in the night?

The scars are deliberate I believe. They're recognised internationally as you having had the vaccine.

Pretty sure that's not true though

The day we were getting them done in school only about six or seven pupils were sent out at a time to wait outside the room where the nurse was. The teacher had to come looking for me as i never returned to class with the rest of the group, I kept leaving everybody else go ahead of me in the queue so i could avoid class for longer.

    i have mine.
only wish it was from the 80s though:)

One of them was for diphtheria, I've no idea what the others are though. I got the sugar lump in primary school, I think that was a polio vaccine.

I suffered through measles and the mumps as a child, anti-vaxers are promoting cruelty imo! The MMR was introduced in the 80's, so I didn't benefit from that :(

    Born in the 70's btw.

Edit - one of them was for whooping cough, another was for tetanus I think.

That mentions 'Spartan Virus DNA'. In the film '300', Lena Headey, who played Queen Gorgo, had a visible immunisation scar. :pac:

I have two of them next to each other. They're not triangles anymore, and have become much less defined over the years. I had a few other immunization scars from different jabs, but I just checked myself, and they are almost completely gone.

I've been tested a few times, no autism. Just Type 1 diabetes, which is ironic since there's so much research into the BCG jab preventing T1D now...

At least my body seems to be good at patching up the holes!!!

It’s from your bcg vaccination as a baby. The scars were the sign of a successful vaccination.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

If you press them in the right order you get a punch in the face.

    The Auld vaccine triangle.

Got this in second year, about 1985.
First it was "the six pricks"(very apt for the christian brothers) and if the scarring from the six pricks disappeared it was the full blown BCG for you sonny.
BCG injection itself wasn't too bad but the pus ridden scabby aftermath that lasted a month was fcukin painful.
What made it worse was we would punch each other in the upper arm to break the scabs and prevent healing.
Just checked there,I still have the scars.

Our school was far too poor for that.

    I'm jealous.

Damn I was hoping for a " I think I was abducted by aliens" story. For some reason I can remember getting a chocolate mouse after one of my injections, like the little small penny sweet types

The scars themselves were never triangular, they're round, with three of them forming a triangle.

Yeah, I know what you're on about, but the scars themselves are too far apart. They used to be pinchy little triangle things, but are messy ovals now. They're fading away over time.
