SSL slowing down page load speed?

Hi lads, I just published a new site and I'm trying to improve the page load speed.
I've optimised as much as I can, however, I'm finding that the https / ssl is taking up the bulk of the page load time. Overall page load time is at 3 seconds at the moment - half of which is from the SSL alone.

Any suggestions on how I might be able to reduce this?

Thanks a million for any responses!

The slowness doesn't have anything to do with SSL. As your image shows, the SSL part takes 68.1ms. The issue is that the response from the server takes 1569ms. The browser is sending the request, and not getting anything back for 1.5 seconds. There are many issues that could be causing that

Boardsie Enhancement Suite - a browser extension to make using Boards on desktop a better experience (includes full-width display, keyboard shortcuts, dark mode, and more). Now available through your browser's extension store.

    Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/addon/boardsie-enhancement-suite/

    Chrome/Edge/Opera: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/boardsie-enhancement-suit/bbgnmnfagihoohjkofdnofcfmkpdmmce

Thanks for that. Any suggestions on where to start? or if it would it be a big job if I could pay someone to fix?

I don't think anyone could answer without looking at the server.
They might guess, but it would only be that.

    Prepare for bunch of questions.
    What's the site?
    What's the http server?
    Is it shared?
What language is the site written in?
    What's the OS?

and after all that you still won't have a definite answer.

    Check the http server logs.
