A friend has just got a job in Newcastle and has asked for advice on where to live.
He has a car so can drive, and is thinking of castleknock or carpenterstown. Not knowing the area, I have no idea how long the commute would be , can anyone give an estimate?
Is he better off going for lucan or adamstown? I don't know west Dublin at all so any advice on where to live would be great, he was looking at being in a place with shops and a gym, and an easy public transport route to town.
    Thanks!

Adamstown to Newcastle in morning traffic would take about 10 minutes. From Castleknock or Carpenterstown it could take an hour!

Clondalkin would also be a good option for Newcastle, great village, gyms bar by & liffey valley is not too far away
