Or have a 90% sneaking suspicion that you know them based off their profile? There's a lad on here who has the same username as on another American forum I used to post on. Found me despite different names. Doesn't like me very much :D

Nope. I thought about going for that Boards Beers, but it would just be too weird

Why are so many old subjects being dragged up? This has been done to death.

    Originality has died, it seems.

When do the colleges open again?

Why don’t you start one, horse, instead of being the resident curmudgeon?

    Where's the fun in that?

Indeed I suspect I've met the OP but he didn't twig me.

Genuine question, what's the 'horse' reference to? A new one on me.

I met a few at a call of duty meet about 8 years back. Alot sound, a few weird/crazy.

Not that I’m aware of... but in all likelihood I probably did, in work, at social interactions, gigs etc... it’s a popular old yoke is boards...

    A few.
    They showed me coppers.
    The horror!

    I showed them galway.
    They all live there now.

I'm sure several do. It wouldn't be that hard to work out. But have you met me?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 927 ✭✭✭BuboBubo

    Yes, in work.

But I have no idea what his user name is and he doesn't know mine. We frequent different forums, he's mad into soccer.

Never. I don't believe they really exist. Boards is really just a computer-generated psychological experiment.

Pretty sure I don't know anyone. Pretty sure you don't know me.

I've met a few (that I know of) and they were very nice.

I say 'met' - I was too busy masturbating in the bushes outside their houses to introduce myself.

Met loads of them over the years. Some in college, some around Limerick, others at events around Ireland.

We're all just people. There's no real mystery about it!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,244 ✭✭✭✭RMAOK

No - never met a boards member in real life.

My husband posts but on a forum I don't use.
A former member is a neighbour
A regular poster here is a mate, we became friends through the site

Quite a few Boards babies around. Lots of Boards couples, married or otherwise too.

I've met loads and most were decent skins. Some of my best nights out were at boards beers or out with friends I met through boards

I met a boardsie 12 years ago in Melbourne when we were both living there and we're now both back in Dublin and still really good mates. Shared many a great night together both in Aus and here.

I know at least two of my acquaintances from university are regular Boardsies, and I have asked them about it in real life, and I know one lecturer who made a snide remark about me being on Boards (but she can go fcuk herself for so many other reasons). It's no big deal. Sure most of us are on Reddit and a load of other pointless sites as well.

I met Aonghus von Bismarck when He was captaining the USS Victory during the united planets famous victory at Orion. I was just a junior officer at the time but he was very nice, he shared one of his finest Plutonian cigars with me just before he teleported off to the classy hooker planet of Vega 5 for some RnR,

    Good Guy.

He has a point though. If people put even half the effort into creating new content that they do into opposing content, the site would be thriving

I've met a couple, all normal people.

A guy I knew in college. He was an alright lad.
Just a tad all over the place when it came to doing college courses and dropping out.

A childhood neighbour was really involved with boards for years. I'm sure hes still around but I dont see his name really anymore (we're friends on facebook so I know theres nothing sinister at play as he seems good and well).

I also recognise an old school mate, her username came from a school nickname so she was easy to spot.

Fellow Limerick FC fan is an occasional boards poster, but I knew them in real life first.

Never knowingly met somebody from boards, never went to any beers or anything like that, and would have absolutely no interest in it to be honest.

The community aspect of things doesn't mean as much to me as it does, or did, to others.

Is the username a reference to the westmeath townland?

    Are you famous?? :D
