If we were ever to get a Timelord from the Emerald Isle, then who do you think would fit the bill? We've had 10 English ones and three Scottish ones so I think an Irish or Welsh one at some point would be nice.

If it's a Welsh person then I'd go for Tom Ellis (Lucifer, Miranda)

An Irish actor, I'd plump for Domhnall Gleeson - I reckon he'd make a good doctor if he played it weird and emotionally stunted, making inappropriate comments/jokes

Cillian murphy Aiden Gillan or Dylan Moran

It's been a running gag with the Dr Who writers that he comes from Ireland, so... :D

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

My first thought was actually his Dad, to be honest!

If we're going for someone younger, Chris O'Dowd.

Cillian Murphy would be a great Master or Valeyard.

I'm a big science fiction fan but for some reason I have never watched Dr. Who. I did watch a one off episode Torchwood: Children of Earth and thought it was amazing. (I know it's a spin off). Should I start watching from the start or is there a good place to jump in?

    And of course Andrew Scott

    Forgot to mention Robert Sheehan

    Best ones taken!
Cillian Murphy would be my top pick.

Robert Sheehan in full Misfits mode.
Brendan Gleeson could be interesting ...

Domhnall would be interesting as he is a bit of a chameleon with his different looks, could vanish nicely into the roll

Start at the start of the new version. Chris Eccelston. It’s fine.

Bingo. Brendan Gleason would be a great cranky doctor. Kind of like his Mr Mercedes character. Chris O'Dowd not a bad shout either.

Course I'm not even a fan , so what do I know ;)

Peter Dinklage if we make him honorary Irish

I'd like to see him played by a middle aged actor again in the vein of 70's Docs Tom Baker and John Pertwee. Brendan Gleeson would get the nod from me.

Ardal O'Hanlon would be terrible! Playing Father Dougal was his limit, and only because it was a ridiculous character. Have you seen him in Death In Paradise?

Wouldnt work. Method actor. For Last of the Mohicans he learned how to load a musket on the run - and for that respect.

But he would need a working sonic screwdriver at least... plus living in a phone booth!

I was thinking a combination of the characters he played in In Bruges and 28 Days later. Benevolent but reluctant leader, just looking for a bit of the quiet life :)
