As opposed to gladrags for the last contest, the attire for this one will be slightly different.

We have people donning their best wrappings....

Shuffling to their seats with loud, audible moaning....

A few are even in fancy dress!

Competition will begin at 1pm, so until then get comfy and discuss all things Horror!

    The Rules:

    • 16 first round matches
    • Pick one of the movies and decide which you prefer. Give a reason. Movies where no reason are given won't be counted. All valid posts will be thanked.
    • First to 6 points, with two clear points ahead goes through to the next round. Depending on volume of voters/contributors, this may increase exponentially by 2 votes each round.
    • One vote per player per match.
    • Anyone can vote, even if you hadn't submitted your entries.
    • Ties will be decided by the vote of the organiser, if deadlocked for a considerable period (where no votes have been made in 15 minutes).

And a final note on the mechanics:
    • Top 8 movies have been seeded to avoid playing off against each other in the first rounds.
    • Other 24 movies have been randomised.
    • Match order has been randomised (ie, you won't necessarily see the Seed 1 in the first match)

And boy do we have a doozy to start this off!

    Stephen King's movies collide when...

    THE SHINING

    VS

    THE MIST

The Mist. It's a brilliant film. The best film to in to blind so I won't even say too much about why it's a great film. The Shining is good though, and I'm a fan of Kubrick, but The Mist is better.

Tough one! Both are great with two very dark endings.I'd pick The Shining though..Kubrick.The Mist is very underrated though.

However the mist, I just loved the setting, really great movie.

Tough battle but Im going to go with the mist.

If anyone's in doubt, just remember that Stephen King himself, hated The Shining, and loved The Mist, he even said the film improved on his original story .... :)

Can anyone join in? If so...The Mist... a better movie and a better adaptation of of King's story and a perfect added-on ending that's like a kick in the stomach. The Shining was ruined by the way it changed Jack Torrance's character, removing the tragic element, and also by Shelly Duvall's performance.

Yeah anyone can join storker :)

The mist. Better film better source. Too much of the director in the shining, so it's not really Kubrick's or Kings in the end
