Disney are remaking Home Alone. Hopefully with a female lead. I hope it will be out in time for Xmas. I LOVE home alone and a female twist would add a sinister undercurrent that would suit the dark tone of more recent films.

I’d love if somebody in Hollywood would have an idea...

I have a soft spot for Home Alone 1 & 2. Saw them both in the cinema as a youngster, and hold up as Christmas favourites. Why the need for a remake? If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Is there anything to be said for another Fast and Furious?

I hope they cast a dog in the lead role.

The pre-pubescent nature of the starring role would make it inappropriate to judge based on looks.

So let me get this straight...

You want to see a pre-pubescent female alone in a house while several adult males try to get to her??

    Ok...

Yes, Garda, it was this first original post right here in this thread...

Adult females. Or gay males. Or adult females crooks with a male lead. Either way, we need to be more inclusive.

I'm going down to the bookies now to put money on Amy Schumer taking the John Candy role

Why does everything have to be converted now to have a female lead?

Even James Bond is going down this route now. It's not in keeping with the source material at all

Better throw this in IMHO before it gets too saucy for AH.

The remake of Ghostbusters, with an all female cast, made a loss of $125M.

We need females that are not just there for eye candy. Even films like Charlies Angels were all about the leggy blondes, despite the cries of independent women from Beyonce and her cronies. Independent me arse.

Nowadays, it's not about an original story, or even a good story that's not that original - it comes down to the proportion of dialogue attrributed to members of each gender.

A good screen writer should strive for 50/50 male to female dialogue - even if it does nothing to progress the story -- even if they are talking complete nonsense.

It just makes sense in the interests of equality.

I agree, we do need strong female leads. However, the answer shouldn't be to remake everything that came before it.

I await the remake of Stand By Me, with an all Female lead soon.

A black female. Two birdies with one stone.

They're not going all in though. She takes the 007 number due to bonds retirement, he comes back yada, yada, yada.
Dunno why I know this, I hate bond movies.

I want to see an all male Coyote Ugly and an all female Magic Mike. Then I want a spin off where characters from both films dance against each other in order to save the world from the bad guy from Footloose.

I'm eagerly awaiting the remake of The Full Monty with an all female cast.

    For equality sake.

    Yeah I agree.

They would have to work hard to keep everyone happy, too. Like, they could swap the Kevin shaving his face scene with Keelin shaving her legs but that wouldn't go down too well with some. Maybe if she was leaving the bathroom, spotted the razor in the corner of her eye, then threw it away in the bin with disdain, winking to the camera as she walked out the door.

If that ever happens I will lose total faith in humanity.

The annoying kid next door will also have to be replaced. Reimagining that for the modern era could be difficult as electric cars all have automatic transmission. Although not many have four wheel drive.

Take an old classic movie that should never be touched. Swap out the characters to make them more diverse. Enables them to virtue signal and plunder in tandem.

There was an episode of South Park where Cadman pretended to be a robot (Awesom-O) and some Hollywood producers asked him to come up with movie ideas.

"Um... okay. How about this: Adam Sandler is like, in love with some girl, but then it turns out that the girl is actually a ...golden retriever, or something."

That's infinitely better than the idea of remaking Home Alone with a female lead.

I want a Home Alone remake that is more of a survival horror movie about a group of desperate thieves are picked off and murdered one by one by a sadistic child. They could have backstories for each of the thieves showing how they're desperate to provide for their families, pay for their kid's chemo etc.

i dont see why it has to be a remake. just make another movie set now following a similar set up . it is the basicness and simplisity that made home alone as great as it is.

Yeah but it wouldn't be home alone! I love home alone! I want more of it. I don't want another movie following a similar set up. How can I share the home alone experience with my kids if the movie isn't going to be home alone. And don't say watch the original. They wouldn't get it.

Why wouldn’t they get it? It’s a kid in a house.
