Stuff some extractor fan mesh in the vent.

Does anyone know of any 4 inch air vents on the market that are specifically designed for reducing draught and noise? (i.e. they are more than just a straight through pipe)

Black hole air vents are designed to reduce draught, but I only see them in 5 inch e.g.
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/127mm-BLACK-VENTILATOR-ANTI-DRAUGHT-BAFFLES/dp/B00CSAHUUI

Rytons make a vent that is designed to reduce draught and noise, but once again only comes in 5 inch http://rts.vents.co.uk/blog/product-details/aac125lpcw-rytons-cowled-super-acoustic-lookryt-aircore/

I have a four inch extractor fan that has a built in motor that opens and closes a vent when turned on/off, stops the blow through drafts, it’s called an x-mart vectaire. You can also buy pipe that has an “s” bend built into it to reduce draft.

Should have mentioned but this is for a room with a wood burning stove, so needs to be permanently open. The vents with the S bend are the Black Hole vents I mentioned above.

The s-bends in the likes of the Black Hole vents significantly reduce the effective free area of the vent, so you may need to install more of them to get sufficient air flow.

I got anti draught vents from the below. I found them very reasonable and easy to install.

The OP may need two of these in the room to get sufficient free area.

Thanks. These look to be 5 inch? I am looking for ones with 4 inch pipe.

I would only need one of these as stove is only 5kw.

A 4inch pipe provides more airflow than is actually needed for a 5kw stove, so no reason for me to go to a 5inch unless I can't find a 4inch.

I bought the Fresh TL98P Wall Vent from them, the four inch version. And I do find it dampens the acoustics,.

Might be worth calling them as most vents with the anti acoustics seem to be 4 inch. Could you drill a 5 inch hole?

But some of the options with a 4" pipe and anti-draught baffles only have the effective free area of around 2" pipe. The 5" black hole vents only have an effective free area of 30cm2, so effectively a 2.4" pipe.

I see the TL98P here https://vents.ie/wall-vents/ for £100 ! That's some price for what is just a pipe, filter and grill.

Definitely I will check the spec before buying. Once it's at least 6500mm2 I'm good.

It looks like it is the TL98P-dB you need if you want to reduce noise?

It's not obvious what exactly their product has that reduces noise, do you know?

The Ryton vents it is clear how they reduce noise, they just put a piece of "acoustic foam" into the pipe http://rts.vents.co.uk/blog/product-details/aac125lpcw-rytons-cowled-super-acoustic-lookryt-aircore/

I didn't go for the acoustic version as I only have a 4 inch core and there's no outdoor noise where I am.

Maybe give them a call and I'm sure they can explain, if you do find out let us all know.

Did you get a good solution for this metricspaces? Did you go with the icon 4 inch? Or did you find something else?
