Watched it last night, never seen the Hard Knock series before, found it really interesting. It seems to go much more in depth than the All or Nothing series on Prime Video. John Gruden is such a cool guy, looking forward to next weeks episode.

No one seems to told Antonio Brown's kid that he no longer plays in Pittsburgh

Full episode is up on Raiders YouTube channel!

If I had known the Raiders were uploading them to YouTube I wouldn't have watched a grainy stream last night, or stayed up until 4 am!

I cannot wait for the episode where ab gets frostbitten

I think it's already happened, in the first episode he was comlaining about injuries to his feet, that's why he sat out the first few practices.

I heard on some podcast today (can't remember who said it) that Gruden is censoring Hard Knocks so none of the Antonio Brown stuff is getting included. We'll find out in Episode 2 I suppose if there's any truth to it.

The show will lose feeling that it isn't complete propaganda if they don't at least touch on it this week.

Last week the brushing over of Incognito's history and cause the suspension he's facing makes me feel they'll do similar with Brown this week.

I thought they might be just setting the scene with Incognito and that they'd return to it in subsequent weeks. But as you say, if they brush over it completely it'll be a joke.

The Building the Browns series is worth watching too. Strange that the NFL is allowing it to feature when hard knocks is being produced at same time.

Don't know if it's myself becoming more jaded with series' like Hard Knocks or not but the same tired format really feels like it's run its course. Follow the QB, emphasise a high-profile player's holdout/negotiations as much as possible, follow the No. 1 rookie, and follow a hard luck/full of determination UDFA or low round draft pick who eventually gets cut.

I would imagine Hard Knocks has always been censored too btw. The "access all areas" crap was always just pump and promotion when you consider the lengths the NFL are willing to go to downplay controversy, they're not going to make a program highlighting it.

I'll watch Hard Knocks alright, but it's probably my least favourite now behind All or nothing, last chance U and QB1

There is an element that they show in Hard Knocks that is beyond what the teams would necessarily want out there. I presume 'Building the Browns' is like 'Brick by Brick' the 49ers produce and release on their youtube channel, with a number of other teams do similar shows. They 'behind the scenes' action from practices and inside the building but would rarely release video of guys getting cut, like you see in Hard Knocks.

Hard Knocks definitely plays down certain elements of controversy but the stuff released by teams completely whitewashes it.

Got the feeling that Gruden was holding back on what he wanted to say on the AB situation, just kept grinning when talking about him.

He must want to murder him. Comes to camp with a stupid injury, goes missing and then files a grievance with the NFL. The picks and money they have tied up with him and trading Mack last season must be killing him. Disaster.

Unfortunate for Crosby. Abram seems like a killer. Doss can't make it surely?

cheers, I actually found a HD stream of it live, was really good. unfortunately i think despite looking good in preseason the Raiders will still be a mess.

maxx crosby i like, has a great personality and is talented. shame he broke his hand but fair play to him sticking a cast on and going back out.

Hunter renfrows singing was awful. he was a very good TE at Clemson, but TEs rarely do much in year 1.

the kid wearing woodsons old number plays hard, hope he makes an impact.

but in general this team has the same personality as always: penalties all day.

incognito joking about his counselling was off-putting, can't stand him at all.

i dont think AB will play week 1. seen his feet on IG it looked horrible, I wouldnt be surprised if he misses significant time, but he's under a lot of pressure now after getting all that money. and switching to a new team, new QB, it's gonna be tough.

I think Gruden, while a colorful character, is overrated as a coach. Trading Mack and Cooper was idiotic, they made huge impacts on their new teams right away despite not knowing the playbook. They tied a ton of money up in Carr after 1 good year, his brother was a bust I think they jumped the gun there a bit. my feeling is they are basically aiming this team to be good after they relocate and this year I think they'll be nowhere near the playoffs. When Gruden won the Suoer Bowl he was playing a team that traded hin and he knew a lot about their schemes and personnel, plus the center for the other team went off his meds and didnt show up (to the SB!) and his backup had to line up against Warren Sapp the best DL in the league st that time.

They do cuss a lot,, almost like Full Metal Jacket at times.

The bit where Carr is talking to Eric Weddle on the sideline. Had to listen to it again, Weddle sounds exactly like Zack Galifinikis.

    He's a wide receiver...

I found the first two episodes a bit boring to be honest. I presume they only focused on the WR in episode 2 so they can have some emotional scene in the last episode when he gets cut. Kind of like that TE with the Browns last year who used to whistle to his dad in the stands.

yes , it doesn't nomally end well for the undrafted rookies who they focus on...

Watched episode 3 last night. I had heard they addressed the AB controversy head-on in this one, yes it is spoken about, but really they didn't really address it properly, and spent more time focusing on what a hard worker AB is. I didn't buy it.

Thought the comedian bit was pretty good, and I can see why players enjoy playing for Gruden, he is a players coach and they seem to relate to him.

I always cringe a bit when Derek Carr is on. He always looks so uncomfortable around Gruden (there were a few scenes with him standing beside Gruden on the sideline during the game which was almost unbearable) , his interactions with team mates, getting called out on oiling his biceps and his response (suncream!), all awful stuff and you can see he knows he is not flavour of the month with the staff.

I can't imagine any other QB that knows he's "the guy" acting in this manner.

Watching it right now and can't stop laughing at Derek Carr making fun of renfrow for having a receding hairline. Carr, you look like a creepy Uncle on a waiting list for hair plugs ffs...

Antonio Brown comes across as a total and utter twat, trying to be charismatic or make up for the obvious fact that he is a problem player acting up about his ****ing helmet, probably under the advice of a PR agent, or that sleazebag agent of his whose job seems to be dancing around massaging the ego of his paycheck.

And I'm having to see far more of Mike ****ing Glennon than I ever hoped to do again. But at least he's not wearing navy...

God watching this I miss Chad ochocinco so much...

Where are all the likeable guys? Gruden ain't it, never seen a coach more concerned about the cameras in my life. No surprise there I suppose. Fair to say I'm not enjoying this season. It's made me dislike a team I used to like.

I questioned the show earlier in the thread but feel they dealt with AB by showing close enough to what is really going on with the access they have. Raiders are playing it down in front of the team, the media, and even coaching meetings, while AB is working behind the scenes.

It isn't all access AB show, where they see him inside his grievance meetings and talking to his PR team and agent.

Overall the show definitely hasn't lived up to what I hoped it would with the characters there but it seems like outside of Brown things have gone relatively smoothly for them in camp

Surprised by that cut. I think he has done enough to get picked up by someone though - he is unlikely to make it to our practice squad.

Signed with Jacksonville's PS. Apparently was offered on spot on the Raiders PS too but chose the jags instead

Yeah I've said it before (even though I still end up watching :o) that Hard Knocks has ran it's course, or at least as a 5 part week-by-week format. Badly needs to be refreshed.

Didn't watch the Panthers All or Nothing so can't comment but I enjoyed the initial Cardinals series and then the Rams & Cowboys less so.

I think I was spoiled by watching 3 seasons of Last Chance U in the last few months, but that was boring as hell.

Of course if we were allowed to see more and it had carried on for longer it mightn't have been.....

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,687 ✭✭✭✭jack presley

Bit early for 2020 talk I know but because of playoff and new head coach rules, it seems the choices for next season are Detroit, Denver, Arizona and Pittsburgh. Mike Tomlin's always good for a crazy soundbite so I'd like to see them out of those 4.
