Asylum seekers refuse to leave emergency accommodation

Asylum seekers who refused to leave their emergency accomodation at the Courtown Hotel yesterday remain in the hotel today

The Reception and Integration Agency (RIA) sent letters to 22 people over the weekend advising them that buses would bring them to alternative accommodation in Clare and Wicklow

The agency wants to use the Courtown Hotel as a family reception centre while single people will be housed in other suitable centres

However, it is reported that 18 people refused to get on the buses when RIA inspectors visited the premises.

I remember the locals were not happy about this being set up as an asylum centre I wonder why the change or heart there?
It seems very sudden by those running the centre why was longer notice not given to the residents of the centre?

Remember in days gone by there used to be genuine refugees who were happy with a tent in a safe country.

Send in the Gardai and Military and send them straight back to where they came from.

Interesting that your first thoughts are to blame the agency not the chancers fleecing us the taxpayer.

"Emergency".. the clues in the name. Send in the army. They might as well get paid for something instead of sitting around the barracks moaning about how they dont get enough money for protecting Ireland from absolutely nothing.

18 people refused to get on the buses. What about the other 4 have they moved on?

You don't send in the army for a domestic law issue.

It's not domestic. They're asylum seekers and it's an emergency.

Neither was the time they cleared ice from the footpaths.

Maybe you should educate yourself what the army can be used for.

If it was only to defend the country against foreign armies we'd probably make do with half a dozen soldiers.

    “They”?

Yeah, whoever ordered armed , balaclaved Guardai to an eviction not long ago. These chancers should be removed imedietley, with force if necessary. Got help the people of Wicklow and Clare who will have the problem dropped on their door.

IMHO, if you don't respect those in authority within the country you are claiming asylum, off you go to somewhere else

Behaviour like this is a red flag

It reminds me of Captain Phillips

This country and government are to soft and don't care about it's own citizens only how they are seen in the European communities eyes. These asylum seekers and illegals know this and things are only going to get worse further down the line. Can't see much be doing, sure our crowd are on holiday for a few months.

They weren't tenants (not were they Tennant's - the beer). They were merely occupying a building. Nobody was living there.

They should do what they are told, if not, escort them to Dublin airport and put them on a plane.

Bit of a non story really. It’s staying as a reception centre but will house families of asylum seekers rather than single asylum seekers.

I don't even support her, but if her base was that small you people wouldn't need to keep bringing her name up at any chance you get. She honestly gets brought up more by posters like yourself than by any of her supposed supporters. Why the obsession is she's as irrelevant as you make out?

I've said it before and i'll say it again, I've said it before

To help reduce the number of these so called "Asylum Seekers" the social welfare system needs to be totally reformed. We give give give with very little return.

Shes a useful windmill representing the right Nazis and racists, the Don Quixotes of the "woke" left can tilt at, a sitting duck because she's absolutely nuts

Pretty high rejection rates on all but the Syrians

    Agreed

But from the other nations listed i would have expected to be 99% rejection rates.

Albania? Seriously. Tells you something if they are bypassing Italy, Germany & France to get here.

But maybe it's for the weather or the Cead Mile Failte

Soft touch. All of Europe is nothing but a ridiculous soft touch.

China denies North Koreans asylum but let us imagine a scenario were a group of North Koreans are housed temporarily in a Chinese hotel at the Chinese people’s expense.

Can you imagine them refusing to be housed elsewhere when asked to make room for families?

Another point that needs to be stressed but often isn’t- Ireland owes these people nothing- absolutely nothing.

    Edgy

But in all seriousness, if i was to rock up to the welfare office in down town Tirana, i wouldn't be getting €200 odd a week, or if i had junior would i be getting HAP to put a roof over my head

Country is gone to ****e! Just wait until FF get back in to power, things will change then......Oh wait

Asylum seekers don't receive social welfare, but are subject to direct provision and are provided with a cash allowance of about €20/week. But you knew that.

Once they are processed and approved the majority of them end up on the welfare. FACT

Why are any of those nations with the exception of Syria applying for asylum?

So is €20 the extent of all welfare they get, I don't think so,but you already know that.

Have you considered that not everyone looks to China as the role model for how to treat people?

Have you considered that maybe it shouldn’t exclusively western countries doing the heavy lifting on asylum?

Many very wealthy countries in the east these days - Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore etc etc yet its all down to western countries to endlessly absorb migrants.
