Lol Jimf:pac: You may have a point there. He's loving his food since I started putting warm water on it. I'm delighted. It's great to see the poor little pet eating with gusto after a long struggle with my poor Mac.

I was disheartened to see today on the ispca site that my fella's brothers are back up for rehoming. They had reserved on their pics for a couple of weeks. One still has reserved on it but the other doesn't. When we collected his nibs on Saturday the lady said one had been collected and the people were grumping because he wasn't washed. She apologised as she was supposed to wash ours but hadn't time. I couldn't give a hoot as long as he's healthy, he's still not washed.:pac:

We were so tempted when we saw the poor little ones back up. They were probably howling up a storm like our fella. We had a chat but we can't afford another one, or two. It wouldn't be fair to them. They'll be snapped up by the right people, they're gorgeous little pups.

Another question, I'm on a roll. The eldest is babysitting our lord and master snuggled up on the bean bag and I'm like a mammy set free here. After collecting from a rescue, would you bring doggy to be checked by your own vet, even though he was seen and vaccinated at the centre? I might need to for insurance?

Sorry for rambling:D How's the training going with you Jimf?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,953 ✭✭✭jimf

probably no harm going to your own vet anyway as there are a few little boy checks that need doing if you get my drift

im not sure how insurance works do you need to specify a vet /practice who will handle his vet needs

training going great with my little guy he has settled in very well he loves coming in the van with me

the 2 older ladies are not too bothered about him but he has been put in his place by them a few times just a show of the teeth and he leaves them alone no growling or snapping

hes just been a typical springer puppy at the moment which means hes wired to the moon don't know where he gets the energy

think I might try a few mugs of puppy sapling myself

I love springers have had them for years there such lovable rogues those sad eyes would melt a stone

Oh Jim I can't wait to see a pic! Spaniel puppies are something else. I can imagine the energy. Ours goes mental for 10 minutes and then conks for 20 and around we go again. It's great he's loving the van. Our fella is loving the car. Wanted to get him used to it straight away as he'll in out and about in it a lot.

Yeah, I'll bring him just for a once over and see where we're at. They have a grand life all the same haven't they?:pac:

great idea to get them into the car routine as puppies

you have to laugh when you see the energy bursts my little fella doesnt realise how small he is yet I bring him for a small run with the bigger ladies a few times a day and to see him trying to run in the high grass is a howl

just need to keep in mind not overdo the exercise when their younger

oh as powernappers its brilliant watching them is he a finger chewer as puppies love fingers

Oh Jebus he is Jim! I had a plaster on my thumb yesterday. I haven't walked him outside yet. Carried him/round today, he saw bin lorries, people and a very large bull. A nice mix.
He's going to doggy daycare on Monday. I'm gonna send him two afternoons a week (just an hour or two at first) to get him nice and socialised.

Ok now THAT looks like a little terror :):):) Is there anything nicer than a hairy terrier. Lovely little chap. Any idea of the size of the parents. Im sure he will bring nothing but joy to your home. (Love the name)

Jimf that little spaniel face is just gorgeous too. Not sure Id ever have a spaniel - they're too nutty - but so gorgeous.

Lucky people wiht puppies to cuddle and fuss over - enjoy them!!

I have no idea of the size of the parents but the mother is a jrt apparently. He has the cutest beard! He could be crossed with anything. He's beyond bananas but so clever and affectionate too. We're besotted.

Had him weighed yesterday and he's 1.7kg, he'll be 12 weeks on Saturday. What would you think size wise?

I actually salivated at that pic Jim, what a beauty!

So yesterday my pup was 12 weeks old. It was also one month since my Mac went and the day we got his ashes back. It was such a hard day, everything comes back to the surface. It's great having him back here where he belongs, there's a comfort in that.
Having our new addition has made a massive difference. I don't know how we would have managed yesterday without him.

Thank you to all of you, your comments and advice over the last while have really helped. It's so appreciated.x
