Reckon that Southern France is huge ew value at 33/1 to put Stradivarius to the test in the 3:35 tomorrow. 3 year olds generally don't tend to have a great record in this race, but with the improvement this showed last time out when stepped up, I think it's the value in the race and if things don't fall right for the favourite, it could be the closest to compete.

Pinatubo looked like the guineas winner to me last time out, was massively impressed by him

Saltonstall in the 19:40 Galway my only bet I'd say today, Colin Keane on board which is a big plus - Ado McG seems very very keen on this lad as one of this best chances of the week.

Rory Fitz (always a fan of his reasoning), tipped him up a week ago too

Suedois 3.00 at Goodwood is massively overpriced at 10/1. Always runs a good race and just behind Sir Dancelot in this last year and had only a length or so to find on Zaaki over 1m at Ascot.

Can easily spring a performance here imo.

Draw bias was crazy last night, tough draw for saltonstall to overcome

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,137 ✭✭✭gazza1

First Sitting 1.50 good 12/1 ew 5 places

Has won over C&D twice from 3 runs the last of which was off 110. Down to 97 today as hasn't shown too much lately although was much better lto finishing 4th.
The winner of that last race was Setting Sail but today the selection has a swing of 11lbs in his favour so am hoping both that and a return to Goodwood can give him the edge here today.

Thought a case could be made for Plutonian at a big price in the first at Goodwood. Runner up in this last year off a pound higher and was runner up in a Listed race here last back end. He hasn't been as good this year but was a good fifth in the spring cup and is coming back down the weights. Backed it at 32 bf

Stradivarius will be tough to beat again today but I'm having a little ew on Wells farhh go. Lightly raced and first time at the trip and looks too big a price. I think Dee ex bee is overrated and won't be able to go with my boy early.
Fast buck in the first at Galway could be a nice horse and I think the 11/8 available could look big come off time.
Like saltonstall also but as others have mentioned the draw could be tough to overcome. Ill probably decide whether or not to back him after the other 2 have run.

Had setting sail there, what a bloody ride on the winner

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,194 ✭✭✭FatRat

Someone explain to me Atzeni's ride on Beringer there. How tf did he not find a gap. Had about 4 furlongs to do so.

grounds good obviously atm after that

That fayez horse pissed in. Don't like this talk of great rides for horses that to my eye look to have won with 10lb in hand. Would've been a poor ride to get it beat would be more my thinking.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,775 ✭✭✭✭Slattsy

Gone for O'Briens here in the next. Interesting he has thrown this lad in against the fav again after being beat last time, when he has plenty of other darts to throw.

Agreed. Won't back it as iDon't bet on 2yo's too often but found that interesting.

An outrageously exposed horse who no more had 10 pounds in hand than the man on the moon

The man in the moon has any amount of weight in hand. Bad comparison.

Will still finish midfield in the 2000 guineas.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 471 ✭✭PhuckHugh22

Not sure about the Guineas. Pretty long way away at this point. But youd have to make him the obvious favorite at this stage.

I was of the thought that Zaaki would be clear favorite here in the next. I havent gotten to involved in much this week but i have bet him earlier at around the 3/1 and slightly above on BF earlier.

Just looked at the replay . Didn't seem to be much bumping. Looked well beaten in the end.

A few modest bets for Galway

    5.20 Fine Brunello
    6.25 Azila
    7.05 Dedillon
    8.10 Danis Boy

Anyone like Movewitthetimes for Enda tomorrow?
He's a bit of a monkey but has ability and could be very nicely handicapped and a claimer on to make him carry next to no weight and another Mc Manus horse pulled out to get him in.
I remember a quirk bag coming over a few years back from Henderson, think it was Quantitative easing and finished second or third at a big price in the plate for Enda, he also got Auvergnat from Jonjo last year or the year before and won the paddy power with him this year.

This boy comes from Nicholls and hopefully enda can do similar. His jumping has let him down recently, tends to make stupid mistakes but Fingeronthepulse was a similar horse for the same owners and they got the win with him. I let myself get put off by him but I'll not make the same mistake again.

Had a fiver on a 6fold today. Cashed out for a just over 100 quid with two left. Course they came in. The win would return over 800. Had a small double on the two left after cashing out, but that really hurt today.

Why cash out? The bet cost you a fiver.

I’ve found myself in a cashout decision again. One left in the next for over 700. Horse is 8/1 cash out is only 60. Have to let this one run after the last I think. Tiny stake too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,380 ✭✭✭STB.

Interesting heard Aido saying they picked up for a nice price on Stephen Thorne's recommendation. Took a chance as the horse had bleeding issues.

Looked like Saltonstall had EIPH post race from the nostrils.

    Good tip Gavin!

I had Blankiedoodie, never had a chance in hindsight with that draw. Can’t complain, great day overall but could have been brilliant. Sors or Atlas to win the last would make it nicer again

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,380 ✭✭✭STB.

All the money has been for Sky Moon in the last.

I would have fancied Highly Approved if they were claiming and the draw hadnt been so high.

Then I heard David Spratt's interview earlier on and he mentioned Red Striker had a squeek. His 3 length beating by a reformed Roibeard is not half bad either. And Keane is on for a hat trick. Small bet.

Was reading Ger Lyons Facebook post earlier...

‘RED STRIKER lines up in the 0-80 7f handicap and if he wins this it will be a lucky mistake as I meant to put him in the 8f handicap! The drier the ground the more my mistake will be compounded and the softer the better. He does have enough pace but realistically he shouldn’t cope with proper 7f merchants but could be staying on strong at the end. What he does not need is a false run race and Colin will have to make sure that doesn’t happen, so the usual Galway manic gallop will suit us grand and then whatever will be will be.’

    Ha entered wrong race!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,380 ✭✭✭STB.

Having looked at the racing today at Galway, one thing is evident that races up to 7f, require a draw of 7 or lower for placing and or win purposes!
