What's your cure for a hangover?

I was out last night and drank a gallon and a half of porter. Didn't stop into the chipper on the way home either, and woke up this morning with a serious head on me.

Had 8 sausages, two fried eggs, 6 slices of toast, and a pint of tea for the breakfast, and had lasagne, chips, coleslaw, and garlic bread for dinner. Still feel fierce rough though. My farts are wojus as well.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but I'm asking the good people of AH what are their hangover cures of choice?

4-5 ****, a hot bath, tea and toast and 48-72 hours rest.

It used to be a pint of ice cold Lucozade but not since they changed it. A good fry up sorts me too.

2 or 3 glasses of red wine always sorts me with no extra pain in the morning.
I attended a 2 day wedding over the weekend and I only got back earlier.
It’s safe to say I’m drowning in wine now feeling happy.
I’ll have a very small hangover for tomorrow if any at all.

A good dose of self pity and swearing I'll never drink again (until the next time), sleep and sips of water or flat 7 Up. I don't cope well with hangovers so usually watch what I drink.

Friends swear by Dioralyte, one pre drinks and one before you go to bed.

I find a forest fruits flavour Yop is great if the stomach is feeling a bit dodgy.

And can't beat 2 Solpadeine dissolved in a tumbler glass of water to stifle a banging headache!

Ha ha ha , the only running I'd be doing is run in front of a hearse.

Yeah, I know Sunday is a great night for the pints but I’m always grateful for the early finish with work, Monday curer has been known though if I’m off.

Masturbation seems to be a popular hangover cure. Is trying to pull the chain off yourself or ‘ringing the devil’s doorbell’ really that effective?

I do that as well. Wouldn't be hitting sub 6 minute mile pace tho.

Nurofen, 2 x jambons, 2 ice cold lucozades.

If it's a hangover that involves feeling like I'm going to puke, blue powerade is the business.

If you have someone else to do it for you... although don’t ring room service. They don’t appreciate it even if it was *sorta meant in jest.

    It gets you to sleep.

I had three bottles of wine. Two red, one white watching the hurling yesterday. Abit sheepish today. Having a bottle of Argentinian Malbec now to ease the pain.

Still better than sitting around in your own filth, masturbating all day. Though I suspect most of the users on this site do that even when they are not hungover.

Full bottles or the minature ones.

    1. Eat before going home after night out.
    2. Solpadeine x 2 before going to bed washed down with 1-2 pints of water.
    3. Get up at a reasonable time in morning and eat plenty and drinks loads of water.

The above works good for me. I was out last weekend and had approx 12-14 bottles of beer and was right as rain the next morning.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,871 ✭✭✭✭gmisk

Lots and lots of water before bed and a dioralyte

I hear what you're saying. Niall Cusack back in his heyday used to call up to my old mans house for the home brew. He be still some man to keep up with on a 20 miler the next morning.
