New customers only? Still showing £79.00 for me when I change to annual subscription.

edit: Found the link and it worked. Cheers OP.

    No luck for me.

Are you already on a yearly sub?

I had a quick look at the streaming content like The Expanse and some of it said "Not available in your location". Is this only useful for deliveries in Ireland?

    Cheers OP.
I was paying monthly for prime so just paid the year membership for £59

Yes, from a previous €59 offer although I got it extended by a couple of months for complaints which I made for late deliveries.

Thank you, had been paying monthly so snapped this up.

dont know if signing up for a year on prime is a great idea at the minute as a no deal brexit would make stuff expensive with VAT and tarriffs applied come November.

Bear in mind that if there is a hard Brexit on October 31st there will may be tariffs on purchases from Amazon UK thereafter. I can see myself using the mainland Europe Amazons a lot more going forward which unfortunately aren't covered by Prime UK.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,146 ✭✭✭Laphroaig52

It's not a bad deal but I would not commit to 12 months of Prime until there is more clarity about Brexit.

If there is 'no deal', we might not be buying much from amazon.co.uk after Oct 31st....

Tell 'em you're in the UK to sort out UK Prime Video content. Like I said, too easy.

Don't change your Irish addresses or anything.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,026 ✭✭✭✭adox

I did think about Brexit but as I was paying £7.99 a month I thought it was certainly worth a roll of the dice.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,315 ✭✭✭✭Mantis Toboggan

Yeah brexit likely to play some role and still think Netflix is better.

I just did this on chat ... they passed me on to "The Concern Department" who asked me where I was located, I said Belfast and they changed it straight away. Thanks for the tip!

I only use it for their TV, not for the quicker deliveries.

hmmmm just thinking, I subscribe to a channel on twitch, you get twitch prime with this don't you?

I'd literally cover my twitch costs with this alone (€5 x 12 = 60) with all the other benefits.....

Is there a downside to this?

Great alert, had been on 30 day trial and delighted with £59.

Anywhere I can see the difference between Prime ROI and Prime UK TV?

Obviously UK Content>ROI content, but is there anything on ROI not on UK?

I've had it for the £59 for the past year, not found a downside, saved myself a fortune on different wee bits, also cancelled Netflix for a while and just used the Prime Video. As a previous poster said get on to customer service and tell them you're in Belfast, the UK version has much more content

Just had my region changed to UK. It took maybe a minute all in.

Cheers to the poster who mentioned it.

If i was to sign up to this now , would there be an issue in asking to be changed to Belfast, say tomorrow through the online chat? Or would i have to wait through a cooling off period.

    Thanks

You will be on Ireland by default. I just changed my region; it literally took seconds through chat. Said I was in Newtownabbey and seemed to be on Republic of Ireland settings. Chat agent came back straight away to say that he had changed some settings and I was sorted!

Thanks. Signed up. Got onto chat, can you confirm my region is set to uk. She asked for my billing address gave my parcel motel. Yes that's correct was her reply.

Didn't fill me with confidence. Anyway of checking? Prime video content? How will I know?

You access UK Prime from amazon.co.uk not primevideo.com

Do you still have to meet a minimum threshold for free delivery on prime ie £25 but that you get it quicker, or can you order £15 of stuff and still get free delivery?

The item has to be eligible for Prime shipping which not all are particularly marketplace items. Watch out for the Prime logo on it. Once it is Prime eligible there is no minimum amount for the free shipping.

Yes can login here. I installed amazon music, it's looking for a UK credit card and UK address. Wouldn't accept Irish CC

If you can watch season 1 of Fleabag you're on the UK account.

Thanks for the reminders on how to switch to the UK. I had done this a year ago but I guess it reverted back! The movie I used to test was Lego Batman. If you are in the UK you should be able to open this link and click "watch now".

If you see not available in your location then contact support via chat. Took about 1 minute to do.

Anyway to renew a Prime membership for £59?
Mines up in August and this makes a renew a real bargain IMO.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 85 ✭✭astonvanilla

my subscription was due to renew for £79 on Tuesday. I contacted customer service and they advised the only way would be to cancel existing membership and set up a new one for the £59.
cancellation was immediate and was quickly able to set up the new annual sub.

Using your existing Amazon account or a new one? The £59 offer says it's only for new customers or those switching from monthly to annual. I'm in a similar position but with an August expiry.

Strange, Lego Batman works for me but the 1st Season of Fleabag doesn't!

For all those worried about how Brexit affects you if it all goes tits up at the end of October......I just contacted Amazon and heres what they had to say about cancelling your membership before the year is up.........."if you cancel the prime, refund will be done on the basis of its usage and months remaining so you will be able for partial refund at that time"
