Getting rid of sky - what do I need?

    Hey guys,

I am thinking of dropping Sky, the cost is annoying and while I do use some Sky channels and stuff, a lot of it is not actively used. What I was wondering is what is the easiest way to ditch Sky and replace it with 1 device. We have a Sky + box, so there are 2 connections I can easily use. There is also a connection to roof-top aerial not too far away, so I could use that too.

What I would ideally like is 1 system that would allow for terrestrial and satellite on the same EPG, ideally with a proper 7 day TV guide and definitely with recording needed. I can see there are some threads such as https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057925678 and https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057810331 but are these the best new devices?

I checked my sky bill now, my next month's bill is ~€55, so if I got a box for €200 ish I'd be making money after 5 months... I'm also quite open to tinkering away with a linux box/etc, provided there are decent guides to follow.

    Cheers.
