Gonna try something here. 32 of Ireland's best loved bars in a straight knockout competition. I have them all ready to duke it out to see what the absolute pinnacle of confectionery is. Basically, you vote for your favourite bar and if it gets enough votes, it goes through to the next round.

All draws are made using a random number generator.

First to get five votes goes through to the next round.

Feel free to give pros and cons of the battling bars!

    Round 1

    Kinder Bueno

If Crunchie is in one of the rounds anyone who votes for it can consider themselves dead to me.

Chomp...chewy and mildly filling (remember when they were 10p and worth every penny)....could be frozen and broken easily.

Kinder bueno....not for me....Not a fan of Nutella based products - due to knowing people with nut allergies.....kinder bueno could be a killer for some kids.

So my vote is for chomp.

    Thread needs a poll !!!!

Kinder Bueno. It's a bit more sophisticated and good, solid dippage.

I'd still be fond of an auld Chomp at Christmas mind. Out of the selection box, rolled up in to a ball and straight in, no questions asked.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,960 ✭✭✭Autecher

Also Bueno, no competition there. Chomps are just manky.

Have you tried Kinder Bueno ice-cream?

2-1 to Kinder Bueno so far!

I think I'll have to go with Kinder Bueno. Just very luxurious. A real treat and you can nibble off bits in sections too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,956 ✭✭✭✭Omackeral

That's 3-2 to KB so far

    Bueno.

I like both but I'm going to go with Chomp

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,956 ✭✭✭✭Omackeral

That makes it 4-3 to Kinder Bueno, good tussle this!

    Definitely Bueno.

The Star Bar will be in the final

    The Brazil 70 of chocolate

Good fight from the humble Chomp but Bueno takes it by reaching 5 votes first. Next up is another David vs Goliath affair.

    Mars Bar

    Mars

Not too keen on either but the chomp is always the last to go in the selection box

It's a random draw as stated in the opening post. Think of it as more of an FA Cup and less of a Sunday league

    Mars.

I mean come on it was the Rolls Royce of chocolate bars when I was growing up in the 80s and 90s. The holy grail!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,273 ✭✭✭racso1975

Yup mars for me though the finger of fudge song was always a winner

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 981 ✭✭✭Decoda

    Mars

Its helped me work, rest and play for years.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 890 ✭✭✭seamusk84

Also I think Chomp should have won the last round.
What’s wrong with ye? We all grew up eating our 10p Chomp bars!
You are all forgetting where ye came from with your Beuno!

    Mars.

It's like Real Madrid vs Levante, purists might like the idea of small club with local fan base advancing but they just can't compete against the big boys.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,896 ✭✭✭Irishphotodesk

Have to go against the grain here.... Mars haven't been enjoyable since the 90s.

The humble fudge however gets my vote... Although it isn't filling by any stretch of the imagination.... It's light enough to be a snack without ruining a meal.

Fudge gets my vote in this round :)

Jeepers, fudge got no love in that round. Mars wins 5-0. Interesting clash of styles here next.

Now if I’m having a cup of tea it’s always been a wafer Club. But that’s the only time I’d hanker for one.

Thing is I simply love the Twix, it’s a classic all rounder.

So that’s a vote for the Twix from me.

    Twix

    Twix.

Old reliable vs an older favorite who is no longer on shelf (I think) after suffering chocolate snack relegation.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,279 ✭✭✭✭Autosport

Fudge got 2 votes in the last round :P

I saw that but it's first to five in this round for voting purposes I'm afraid. This is serious business.

    First to 5 wins

Game was over when fudge strolled up the empty pitch for two consolation goals.

I don't really like either of them but Twix wins by a whisker.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,518 ✭✭✭✭dastardly00

Twix - it will never go out of fashion

    Twix.
I'd have gone chomp and fudge, but I just woke up.

Twix puts Pink Snack out with a 4-1 victory. This next bout could probably be worthy of a final in its own right

star bar..all time favourite hands down.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,651 ✭✭✭✭Tell me how

    Double Decker.

Star Bar is more of a Spurs. Always looks like it should be winning all round it, but, you know........

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,381 ✭✭✭Skuxx

Double decker.... Although I couldn't eat a full one!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 890 ✭✭✭seamusk84

Have to go with the Double Decker here. The chewyness of the top layer coupled with the brick like chocolatey of the bottom layer has always been a winner for me.
Hell I have a Double Decker in the kitchen for my treat later!

I always felt like the center Star Bar tasted a bit like raw cookie dough. Just was never for me.

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 23,223 ✭✭✭✭beertons

    Double decker.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,181 ✭✭✭Lady Haywire

Double decker, though I like to eat it in two parts. Top first, then the hard base with tea.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,301 ✭✭✭✭gerrybbadd

Bit of mentalness going on here.

Star bar all the way. Double decker should be dropkicked into the nearest hedge

    Two late!

After scoring first, Star Bar capitulated, going down 5-1

    Disgraceful carrying on.

I'm out. Some ****e like Tracker bars will win this entire thing, given the Calibre of votes cast
