Serving hatch in period house

    Hi.
I'm moving into a period property (unlisted) where the kitchen is in the return and 6 steps below the dining room (2nd reception room). To help serve food and return plates, I'm thinking to add a serving hatch of about 0.5m square.

Any advice on how to undertake this? Do I need a structural engineer to sign off to ensure it doesn't affect the wall (as it is an internal load-bearing wall)? How to find a good builder with all necessary insurance and up for a small project?
