List of secondary schools in the city

    Can anybody confirm that this list is complete?


    (1) Bish, Nun's Island - all boys?

    (2) Mercy and Presentation merged

    Is this all girls?
    Has all activity moved to the Pres site?

    (3) St. Mary's College - all boys?

    (4) Jesuit, Sea Road - mixed

    (5) Dominican, Taylor's Hill - all girls?

    (6) Salerno, Threadneedle road - all girls?

    (7) St. Enda's - mixed?

    (8) Colaiste na Coiribe, moved to Knocknacarra, mixed (ETB)

    (9) ETB school at Moneenageisha

    (10) Is there a new school in Doughiska called Merlin College? ETB?

    Am I missing any?

    Yeats college- private secondary, mainly for leaving cert and repeat leaving.

    New educate together secondary, due to open soon in or near Oranmore.

    - if you’re classing Oranmore as City then Calasantious secondary should go on the list too.

    2 yes. Our Lady's college. And no.


    9 Galway Community College.


    10 Yes.

    St. Mary's and Our Lady's (Pres & Mercy) will be merged into a big co-ed school on Mary's campus, according to newspaper reports earlier in the year.
