I've a PS4 up for sale on Done Deal.

Lad says he'll buy it but I have to send it to London. He agreed that he has to pay via PP friends and family and that once I receive payment I'll send

Is there anyway I can be scammed if he pays via friends and family?

Just don't fancy being down a couple of hundred quid.

    Thanks

Compromised PayPal account jumps to mind.

I can't think of any reason why someone in London would be looking to buy a relatively common games console from a classifieds website in Ireland.

Like as in he may have hacked an account and is sending me money fraudulently?

Yeah I'm just suspicious as prices on eBay in the UK are way better than what we're charging over here

Why are people even contemplating here F&F is for that purpose F&F paying you.

Think the scam might be that you get an email claiming to be from PayPal "confirming" that you've been paid but it's not actually from PayPal at all and you never get the money. Then "buyer" tries to force you into refunding them, possibly also via F&F if you don't send the goods. Although it's likely they've no interest in the goods, it's the PayPal spoof they're attempting.

I ended up calling PayPal, they said don't go though with the transaction.

Send your man a message on WhatsApp and was blocked straight away so I guess they were right 😂

His name was 'Kel' on Done Deal, just in case any of you are messaged by him.

Also if anyone wants a PS4 let me know

Done deal is full of scammers and they are easy to spot if you think about it carefully before jumping in, the scam here is a fake PayPal email saying you have money and then off you pop to the post office and never see your PS4 again and never get paid, a PS4 can be picked up in cash converters very cheaply so you would have to wonder why someone would bring one in from Ireland and pay shipping

I replied to him on WhatsApp that PayPal said not to send the money and I was blocked straight away!
