Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Selling paper share certificates without getting screwed on fees

    Hi

I'm looking for some advice if anyone can offer some. This is a probably a bit of a newbie question, so bear with me...

I have some paper shares that I wish to sell. There are numerous certificates, approximately 50, some with more shares than others on them (some are single shares from dividends over the years).

Also to complicate matters the certificates are issued to an old address in the UK which may complicate things?

The default broker that issues the certificates (on behalf of the company I hold the shares with) wants to charge me £150+ to sell the shares, which feels like a complete rip off and therefore I'm not willing to go down that route. I also enquired about selling them with an Irish broker but was informed that only the first 5 paper certificates are sold for free and every accompanying certificate then attracts a fee, which again significantly bumps up the cost of selling.

Basically, I'm looking for any advice on how I can sell these paper certificate shares without getting completely shafted with fees, as the value of the shares isn't what you'd call life changing!

    Thanks
