External hard drive

When i plug in my external harddrive to my laptop..nothing happens?? I get the plugged in noise, and its sounds like its trying to load..but it doesn't appear in This PC. Its a 1tb intenso drive ...worked a few months back, but not now? Laptop is Win10

okay.

you have rebooted pc? any messages about hardware malfunctioning etc? check device manager see if there is anyhtung not detected properly.

try another usb port. rule that our. have you another cable you can test. rule that out.

have you another pc you could test hard drive on?

chances are it is either the hard drive itself or the caddy/casing but you can rule out the other possibilities with substitution.
