    What’s sad is that most of what’s in the plan was proposed 15-20 years ago and never built.
    If this Ireland 2040 plan is serious the government are going to have to start putting their money where their mouth is.

    It's not likely but would it be possible to make the midleton line into light rail ?
    All the extra stations planned on midleton side would be cheaper , they could easily have extra light rail stations at tivoli / north docks , and the entire midleton / little island / carrigtohil line would then be directly linked to the city centre , ucc ,CUH , cit , and on to ballincolig -
    If you could make cobh light rail too it would simplify things -

    Why would that make it better?

    Whole load of reasons not to, track gauge being one. Luas and heavy railways are different widths. Just add the new stations to the existing lines.
