Could be a season defining game for both teams. The loser here will be under serious pressure in the next round.
Kk have alot of injuries but it remains to be seen if Dublin can shake off the inferiority complex they have when playing kk in championship. Should really have beaten them in the same fixture last year.

Can anyone explain why that was a penalty? Looked like barging and/or too many steps moreso.

The ref does know it's a contact game !?

    Really is poor.

Referee making some unbelievable calls. Only gave that one to Reid because the crowd were on his back. Not to suggest Dublin haven't benefited from his stupidity of course.

Is there a reason for this? Amazed at the empty seats. Is it the timing of the game?

    Is he a camogie ref?!!!

It's full pelt anyway even if the atmosphere is Walsh Cup.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,816 ✭✭✭corny

Dublin using possession a lot better. Their backs are well on top too.

Dubs have next to no support in hurling. No history of beating kk although today was and is a golden opportunity

On that wide/point. is hawkeye still only in Croke Park and Thurles? I assumed it was going to be brought in for all championship grounds/games eventually

Neither do Kilkenny pre September either.

Ref bringing KK back into it with the last two frees.

How was the selector not sent off?

And giving that peno for a dive.

Whatever about the first one but thats definitely a penalty. The covering player just collapses on Rushe.

Kk have good support for league games never mind championship. There isn't 300 dubs there.

Nothing happened to the Dublin mentor? Should be a red card

Absolute bollocks of a ref. :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,812 ✭✭✭thelad95

Greg Kennedy is an absolute disgrace and that really isn’t in the spirit of the game at all. Scumbag behaviour.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,591 ✭✭✭The White Feather

The sense of injustice might have actually helped get Kilkenny going for the second half. They seemed a bit lackluster until that. Looking forward to a humdinger of a second half now!

Hilarious stuff in Nowlan Park. Greg Kennedy a very unpopular man at the moment. Kilkenny way off the pace, Dublin should win by 8+

Kilkenny now look afraid to even tackle the dubs, can't predict what mccallister will do

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,486 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Dublin doing well but really should of scored a goal for the 2nd penalty too extend the lesd more

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,816 ✭✭✭corny

I'd have sent the mentor off but i'm not sure it mattered. The ref was talking to a player and more than likely wouldn't have let play continue. Weird that the crowd needed that to get themselves worked up.

    Dublin should be further ahead

When was Greg Kennedy any other way. He'd be known for nothing if it weren't being a niggly b0ll0x

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,591 ✭✭✭The White Feather

If he would have ducked down and was like whoops didn't mean to get in the way , then I would say he was being clever but catching the ball is taking the p*ss!!!!

There’s been a flat atmosphere around the county this year in regards to hurling.

To be honest, speaking to people involved in the clubs, there’s an awful lot of lads not overly bothering until later in the year when the club picks up. When you disconnect the clubs, they won’t follow the games half as much in my opinion. Hurling is a drug, you need a regular fix and if you’re not seeing regular game time you just switch off until you do get regular games.

You can take the man out of Loughrea, but you can’t take Loughrea out of the man.

Would the rugby final have an impact on attendance? That and, similar to last year, there's 4 games so it's more expensive so people will pick and choose

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 26,658 ✭✭✭✭OldMrBrennan83

I'd still give him a good ban after this but in fairness it had no bearing on the game as the ref wasn't ready and would have called it back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,378 ✭✭✭threeball

You can take the man out of Loughrea, but you can’t take Loughrea out of the man.

His club mate Mr Maher fits the same mould.

True he takes him to the ground, but there should have been a free out for steps before that tackle. Very strange to see several key decisions go against the home team

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,378 ✭✭✭threeball

The striking and first touch in this game is chronic for both sides. Alot of slopping around in rucks too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,055 ✭✭✭JohnnyFlash

Hogan is a great man to be able to bring off the bench.

    Sloppy auld game.

Players take more steps and get away with it. Penalty was the correct decision imo. Ref is bad for both teams. Soft frees are keeping KK in touch yet the crowd are baying as if the ref is the anti christ. Another ridiculous free for Fennelly there.

I’m not watching are KK coming into it or is Dublin holding their own?

Both sides wouldn't be scoring at all if it weren't for frees. They desperately poor. Wexford will be licking their lips.

The ref is deciding the game. Every score in the second half has been from a placed ball. A lottery when it comes to the decisions.

Hopefully bogey decisions isn’t a deciding factor come the closing minutes

    Stalemate. Free taking competition.

    Goal for KK
