Most of those are crap. The only one that looks decent is the Men's Health one, as it appears to be a Concept2 clone.
But at that price you could buy a refurbished Concept2

    What's your budget OP?

Rowing machine is a great piece of equipment, highly recommend Concept2 if you can stretch to it.

Wasn't going to go anywhere near that sort of money tbh.

    What's so special about it?

    Surly theirs good cheaper ones??

I could afford it but their would have to be something special to justify that price???

How much were you thinking of spending?

It's the pinnacle of rowing equipment, well it and maybe some of the water rowers at a similar price. Every gym in the country will have a few Concept2's and virtually all of the elite rowers do their training on it. There is good support with it and a good community to help with questions and motivation etc. The monitor on it and its connectivity is probably what really sets it apart from others.

FWIW its 900gbp delivered on their own website, which works out a bit cheaper. There are second hand ones on Donedeal and Adverts from time to time, and generally they are bulletproof but consequently they hold their value incredibly well. With the PM5, they might be 600-700 on Donedeal.

But for average Joe doing 40 mins a few times a week in spare room seems massive overkill?

    They last forever.

I bought mine 2nd hand in 2004 and still use it.

Upgraded to the PM 5 controller 2 years ago when the original screen broke (damaged by falling piece of timber)

I suppose the answer to that is...maybe?! :D If its the only exercise that'll be being done with no gym subscriptions etc. I'd say it is worth it! I know lots of people that spent upwards of 2k on treadmills so I suppose it's all relative.

OK, I do like stuff that doesn't break...I'll have to sit on that price for a few days and let it sink in though:o:)

How do you find rowing on your knees?

What sort of BPM do you hit on a rower?

I get why you'd balk at dropping a grand on a rower you'd anticipated spending a few hundred on.

But if you want a rower for longer term use, consider it. The feel of the cheaper ones is usually poor and off-putting and I'd venture is part of the reason why they, although they were relatively cheap, were a waste of money.

You'll want to get on the C2 and use it.

If you lose interest down the line, you have something you'll be able to recoup a significant chunk on.
