Is this GPU upgrade good or should I save for something better?

Currently have an RX480(8GB) and been looking at the GTX 1070. Is this a worthy, and future safe, upgrade or should I save for something a bit better? Current System is i5 2500K with 26GB RAM. Also, in regards to manufacturer, is there any particular manufacturers that have poor reputation and should be avoided?

Might want to save up for an RTX 2070.

I thought they were fairly similar in performance but the 2070 is much dearer. Is there any particular reason you recommend it?

I would probably go for Vega 56 as it's better value for money really. You can get a decent Vega 56 for about £240 now. Get free games too with them.

I keep forgetting - RTX 2060.
Equal performance to Vega 56/64 (better in new games) at lower power consumption, and generally overclockable to 2070 levels.
