Is this Wild Rose?

If so for a low budget it was pretty successful, absolute star turn from Jessie Buckley worthy of her BAFTA nomination that followed. I too found it just fine yeah the writing in parts may have been shoddy particularly with a criminal record I'm not so sure she'd be swanning into the States with that. Beyond that though it was moving in parts and Buckley's performance, the songs not remotely my style of music even but it was convincing made it fairly worthwhile.

The same writer did go on to write 'The Nest' mini-series starring Martin Compston (Line of Duty) & Sophie Rundle (Peaky Blinders), rather good that and the lead actress (Mirren Mack) put in a star turn of her own in it. Some of it was actually in the same vein as Wild Rose not least because it was set in Glasgow too.

@Wrongway1985 yeah fair review.. "shoddy" for sure.. I just felt that had the writing been a bit better it could have been great...

like they cudda elaborated more on her relationship between her and the kids.. especially after she lost her job.. and how she made the transition from being rebellious to eventually embracing motherhood and writing her own songs.. etc..

Ah, is was an " easy" watch......not earth shattering but a few nice tunes & a cracking outing for Jessie Buckley....id give it 6.5/10
