    LCCs are have load factors in excess of 90% regularly.
    LCCs have trimmed everything to the bone.

    Aggressive Environmentalists would rather see planes grounded than flying.
    Eventually they will get their way. Worse than proselytising Vegans they are.

    Some Swedes are all ready at it. article on bbc yesterday about swedes who now go on holidays by train rather then fly because of global warming. 5 days on a train to the south of spain traipsing across europe no thanks. Surely the likes of BA & Lufthansa would be bigger polluters then Ryanair?

    Well across the board on a per passenger per mile basis they are certainly heavier polluters seeing as the aircraft are much less densely packed due to the presence of business and first class.

    On shorthaul within Europe, Ryanair can still probably claim, and probably are lower polluters on the same per passenger per mile basis due to their higher load factors

    Their fleet also probably has one of the youngest average ages across Europe too, so that'd be another point in their favour.

    Damn lies and statistics. An A380 operator would argue that they are low polluters due to the higher density. A 777 operator would say they pollute even less as they have 2 less engines. At the other end of the spectrum a turbo prop would say they only burn a bit more than a light jet with an increased number of passengers. All garbage really. People need to get from A to B end of. Its all about taxes at the end of the day.
