Is there a possibility that this guy lost access to his wallet? Imagine how sick you would be..

High possibility unless he is a extreme holder. To think that wallet could also claim 80.000 Bch and other bitcoin forks aswell.

This is why I think the pass phrase I wrote on a piece of paper is the safest of the ways I have stored my keys.

    Hi,

This is a very basic question but I could not find another more appropriate thread to post in. I have created a Kraken account, went through the registration and validation process.

I went them to deposit some FIAT currency but it seems the only way to do this is through another intermediary Etana Custody. I am hesitant to provide further details to another company in order to use the exchange.

Have a missed something or is there anything to be wary of?

    Any comments or advice appreciated.

You can just use the Fidor Bank AG SEPA option to deposit EUR directly via a SEPA transfer. Etana is just another deposit option for users outside the SEPA zone and isn't compulsory.

    Thanks @manu2009.

I am looking to deposit GBP (Sterling) looks like the only way is through Etana Custody which does not have great reviews from what I have read.

Yes for international transfers the only option to deposit GBP is through Etana.

For UK residents their are other options available that don't require a third party.

You can find the full breakdown of fiat deposit options here: https://support.kraken.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000381846-Fiat-currency-deposit-options-fees-minimums-and-processing-times-

Can you deposit via a credit card in US$ and let your bank do the conversion? Do you have an Irish bank account?

    Bitcoin Halving Facts:

    • Investors buy the hype weeks before every Halving

    • $BTC retraced on the week of Halvings 1 & 2

    • After H1, BTC consolidated for over a month before rallying

    • After H2, BTC retraced & took weeks to recover before finally rallying again

What date this month is the Halving/Halvening happening?

    From Cryptocompare Newsletter:
Number of people running BTC Nodes has fallen to 3 year low ahead of having.

Doesn't surprise me. Why are people running BTC nodes at all? There are costs involved and there a no rewards for it. All the nodes I run (not BTC), I get Masternode Rewards for.

3 possible profiles IMO (each individual can be a mix of those):
    1) the paranoid an security-oriented person who wants to be able to monitor the integrity of the network and of their transactions first-hand
    2) the curious geek who wants to understand how the network works and just likes experimenting with new things (that person likely already has a server or a NAS running other stuff 24/7 anyway)
    3) the idealist who strongly believes in the philosophy behind bitcoin and wants to contribute to the network

I'm fully stocked now with sats, just going to sit it out

Its probably my biggest bag...have also stocked up recently on $LINK, have a good feeling on this and picked up a mega load of DGB @ approx 1.1c a couple weeks ago

LINK will probably be a long term hold as the staking once it comes in will be a nice 5%

Yes but I purchased at the ICO on Binance and the same for the Harmony One ICO. They were some joke in fairness as the FOMO was unbelievable!

That's why DGB is a good investment as it's neither listed on Coinbase or Binance.

DGB is available on Uphold wallet, albeit at higher fees than the exchanges that list it, but you can go straight from EUR into DGB

Would be nice to see $10k again although presumably a quick sell off will quickly follow.
