Day started with a fascinating Mixed Relay, Ethiopia took gold by a long way. The final Kenyan runner was level with her with a k to go and then fell apart, finished third behind Morocco. Course looks even more tactical than it was made out to be beforehand

Crazy finish to the end of the U20 Women. 4 women within a half-step of each other. Chebet was in front, but started celebrating before the tape, seeemed like she was almost caught, then the initial announced result put her in third! And now the official final result has put her back as the winner!

U20 Men on now, Ingebritsen vs East Africa. Irish interest in Darragh McElhinney and Jamie Battle. And Kenya will be out for blood, Ethiopia have taken both team golds so far

Morocco later disqualified and USA promoted to bronze. Looked very harsh...in an event like XC with so many variables. Letter of the law I guess.

    Just saw that. Crazy: https://twitter.com/letsrundotcom/status/1111961802345205761
Seems insanely harsh, but what was the Moroccan woman thinking?

Ingebrigsten was made to look ordinary in that company. 12th place and totally wiped out afterwards. Still, next European was 25th. Says it all....
Really good, tough course. Difficult to pace correctly.

Gutsy run this from Fionnuala looks to be on course for first European. Looks good for Boston

Moller (Denmark) is still ahead of her, but doesn't look as comfortable as Fionnuala. Fingers crossed. Super run by her.

Also have to factor in that he is coming off a 1500m indoor season so will have probably sacrificed some of his strength for speed the last couple of months, not something you can get away with on that course.

18th by Fionnuala, 2nd non-East African. Very good run

Great run by Obiri, lead for almost the entire race, and pushed hard by the two Ethiopians the whole way

Great to see Cheptegei take the win after his incredibly tough run two years ago.

Tobin finishes 61st after being 87th after lap 1. Dooney comes in 105th

Not to mention injuries sustained in car crash back in December

Obiri starting the year very strong, looking forward to seeing her attack the 5k again this Summer. Right she'll certainly be the favourite to defend her title in Doha, but a lot could change before then. Will be interesting to see how her rivalry with Hassan develops this year. I'd love to see her taking a crack at the world record also.
