Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Investing for college fund.

    I'm currently putting children's allowance for two kids into a savings account, earning very little interest obviously. The plan was to keep this to put towards kids college fund. I recently heard that this isn't the best thing to do with a college fund (due to inflation) and there are better options for this over 18 years.

    I have next to no idea about what investments to look at for this kind of purpose. What examples are there of good low risk investments or would it be possible to use my pension in some way and take out the amount I need for kids college when the time comes?

    €280 a month.

    I remember Acorn Life having access to a fund or something specifically tailored as suitable for paying future college fees. It was along time ago, but could be worth asking about.

    I'm planning on doing something similar deisedevil but I don't know enough yet to make any decisions. If you find a good solution, would you mind posting it back here again please.
