What has that got to do with how famous he is?

If being famous for all the wrong reasons is how you measure someones worth then yes, mcgregor is the more famous.

    Famous or infamous?

Katie Price is famous - fame means nothing.

  • Registered Users Posts: 566 ✭✭✭R.F.

    Would you stop...

    Katie Taylor
    Pádraig Harrington
    Brian O'Driscoll
    Roy Keane
    Robbie kean
    Sean Kelly
    Sonia O'Sullivan

As much as I cannot stand McGregor these days, I am sorry but in terms of being world famous Roy Keane is the only one were there is an argument. And in recent years no chance

Who said anything about measuring someone's worth?

    31 Millon Instagram followers.

Compared to the former captain of Manchester United during one of the most successful periods in the history of football, which has hundreds of millions of fans across the world.

Instagram is a mediocrity contest, and not an indicator of valid achievement or recognition.

I didn't mean it in the monetary sense.

The majority of my foreign friends wouldn't have a clue who any of them are. They all know who McGregor is.

Even I don't know who Sean Kelly is..who the fook is that guy???

No way is he the most famous Irish sportsman ever. Stupid comment typical of his fanboys. Do they realise a huge amount of ppl don’t even consider mma a sport and never will!

Firstly, it is a sport, what is your reason for believing it is not?

Please note if your main objection is going to be around 'brutality' and 'two lads just knocking the heads off each other', then I'd suggest trying to read up and understand it as opposed to just putting it down.

Secondly, while there are certainly greater Irish sporting role models than Conor, who else has the fame near his level?

This is not a fanboy comment - I've watched & been involved in MMA/MA long before knowing about Conor and will be afterwards.

A lot of people seem to be attaching their own meanings to the adjective famous. Famous means famous, it means a lot of people knows who they are. It has nothing to do with self worth.

LOL you think Asians and Americans didn't know who Roy Keane was? Man Utd have an enormous following worldwide. They filled stadiums on tours of countries in those continents.

Don't like the man's behavior however in terms of fame I'd say he's way ahead of Keane.

First they came for the socialists...

Didnt he beat up a teenager?

I think you are overestimating the importance and popularity of MMA in comparison to soccer. In particular Manchester united. I don’t know how many people in the US would know McGregor either.

I would suggest going to the states and prove yourself wrong.

Well he's definitely the most internationally famous Irish man accused of this.

I think that we can all agree on that.
