One I like for the Ballymore is Castlebawn West currently 40/1 in places

What are the chances Klassical Dream goes Supreme and ruby rides Castlebawn West? Surely goes off less than half the price on the day

    Sam's Profile 12/1 ew Ballymore

Think he has a huge chance in this race.
Beaten lto by Battleoverdoyen but made a mess of 4 out and also had to switch out before jumping the last and got going too late but finished off the race very strongly. I think the distance is spot on for him and is lightly raced so should be more to come.
Just can't see him out of the places here

When trying to pick the ballymore winner, you have to look at the runners and see if next years champion hurdler is there. That’s often the standard of the winner, not always, but that’s the question you have to ask yourself

Good bit of word for him around fethard, I've a few bob on already. I hope it doesn't rain too much though. He was murdered in running in that race in naas

Min against Altior again and no Footpad. Madness!!!

UDS should have gone here. Only horse to get altior off the bridle in 2 years. With the soft ground It would appreciate, i would have thought let him go from the off, try to make all and fall on your sword at worst. Doubt at his age he will want the extra 4f Thursday

Altior was off bridle in last years QMCC before motoring up the hill and that was without Ruby on Min. Ruby will be on Min for the first time over fences against the beast but even so it’s a near impossible talk unless Altior falls or unseats.

Altior nearly always comes off the bridle. I'd be surprised if he didn't again before devouring the hill in his usual fashion.

One of the greatest sights in racing is seeing Altior hit that hill, stick the head down and put 5 lengths on the pursuing pack in a matter of 100 yards.

Up in the stands watching it last year, unbelievable sight, the English went ballistic, couldn't believe how he picked up after jumping the last

    2. Delta Work
    3. Brio Conti
    4. Altior
    5 Auvergnat
    6. Got Trumped
    7. Ask for Glory

Just one more sleep punters. Good Luck and enjoy all.

City island in the Ballymore, massive improver and quietly fancied.

EW double with Kemboy in the GC 10/1 and 9/1

Yeah don't think I've ever seen a horse eat the hill like Altior. His head bowing even lower than usual too, great sight. I saw his Supreme win again a short while back and it was such an impressive win. Hopefully he hacks up again while his peer Sprinter Sacre watches on from nearby.

Really looking forward to watching what I think will be a cracking RSA . Like cracking smart in the coral cup today also.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,350 ✭✭✭munster87

I’ll chance Ask For Glory in the bumper. Probably hasn’t beaten much in two runs, (both on soft ground) but looking at last run it’s hard to find fault and could be anything. Can’t remember Nicholls having too many in this in the past so that alone is interesting. Around 10/1.

Day 2 under genuine threat according to RP.......might extend to Saturday

    Don't they bloody dare

The last time they called a day off (also the Wednesday) I think they ran 19 races over the Thurs & Fri. This year they would have 21 over two days. The conspiracy theorist in me thinks they're viewing it as a handy way of trialling a Festival day on a Saturday - here comes 5 day festival!

Elliots horses seem to be miles off the pace on Day 1, could it be worth taking on Delta work in the RSA?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,137 ✭✭✭gazza1

He's only gone and done it again. I hate that starter !!

I think it would be reckless to write off any trainer after one bad day at the races. In fairness he has had no certainties today at all to fret over. Apples Jade did not run up to scratch, I think that was his only major fancy.

He targets a lot of tomorrow's races, handicaps etc. Ask yourself the same question tomorrow night.

It will be beating Willie Mullins that is the problem, all his are flying.

Battleoverdoyen to put things right for Gordon and Jack...I hope!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

People said the same thing about Elliot last year after Apples Jade was beat the first day and he had a treble on day 2.

Hopefully tomorrow is their day with Delta Work & Tiger Roll for the treble. Worried about Elliott’s after today but then again none were really fancied bar Apples Jade but we now know she just hates it round there.

Correct. Elliott will hit form. Battleoverdoyen runs, Battleoverdoyen wins. Nap lads and ladies.

Not sure about Delta but he should be thereabouts. I have no educated opinions to offer.

Fup off wind. Fup the fupping hell off!

Tiger double material with BOD. Nearly forgot about him. I'll bounce a few doubles off him and BOD with some yolks I pick out of handicaps later!!!

Wind could be a problem tomorrow. Cheltenham officials have already indicated Saturday is a contingency plan.

How likely is it to go ahead tomorrow ??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,977 ✭✭✭✭Gavin "shels"

Bit of a head scratcher of a day if it goes ahead - will it be on the heavier side of soft? Bit of rain due it seems - if it does go ahead.

Silly question lads but I just seen Davy got a 2 day suspension for arguing with staff and ignoring vets, would that start right away or what's the story ?

The word on the ground at Cheltenham is that there is a real risk of cancellation.

They have made a big point in saying it could be moved to Saturday I think that indicates they aren't expecting it to go ahead

1.30 - On Battleoverdoyen with a while. Looks like a lesser speedier version of last year's Samcro but equally smart and well built. Really like this horse and is going to be a great chaser I think. Thinking with the heart a little though. Champ is a big lay imo. Gone for Dunvegan EW too.

2.10 - Was lucky to get on Delta Work at just over 4s. On Mister Malarky too and buzzing he's come in from 25s. Really like the cut of him.

2.50 - Ended up going w/ Killultagh Vic, heart made me do it. Like Bleu Berry in this one too and have a free bet on Wicklow Brave out of a random choice.

3.30 - Really need Min w/o Altior here. Snapped at the evens last week or so. If BDA, Benie and Min w/o go 0-3 it has been a shocking Cheltenham big punt wise and I'll need a few more long shots to ease the pain. Min's a good horse, easily the #2 here and I'm confident. Hope Altior hacks up but I have doubts...dunno why he's the most reliable horse around. Also on Poliologue EW simply because I think he's way over priced.

4.10 - Can't have Tiger Roll here. Fact Of The Matter is one I like, as is Bless The Wings for smaller stuff. Auvergnat I like a lot but price too short.

4.50 - Get Trumped and Chief Justice. Brutal race tbh.

5.30 - Master Debonair is my quiet fancy of the week. On him and Meticulous with a while. Shame Malone Road and Andy Dufresne haven't made it.

I'm still going for pints if it's cancelled tomorrow. The wife won't know like.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 636 ✭✭✭Angliru

Kind of suits me in a way if it is cancelled as I'm only off work the Friday and Cheltenham on a Saturday before Paddy's Day sounds as sweet as a Labaik-Trump-Leicester treble by the absolute Tony Ansells.

Feel like they should just stick a few more races on the Thurs and Friday though if tomorrow is a no-go...probably not logistically sound but neither is trying to accommodate for people already pencilled in to go home Friday evening.

Fancy Abacadabras In the bumper, was on lto and was traveling strong and about to challenge Envoi Allen before running out, price shortening more than I'd have liked though.
