First of the lightning off the south coast of England now.

Sparking up in Spain and western France too.
Trajectory seems to be inline with forecasts. Southwest England.

Joanna's forecast there now had it completely dry overnight even in East Ulster in complete contrast to meteogroup/BBC and the UK met office

And this is within the next 12 hrs...

Not a mention of Thunder on the forecast there now

The rain off the West Coast looks to be pulling away and breaking up

This setup looks similar to June 29th last, it was the cold front off the west coast that sparked mid-level storms over us as it moved inland.

    Upper Trough approaching.

ECM 12Z out now and showing much bigger chance of Thunderstorms in the center of the country in the early hours moving N or NNE, about 02.00 to 06.00 as it clears the N.

Might be a few surprises yet ???

I'll give it until 1 am myself to see what the potential is. Can't rule anything out. It is a "nowcast" situation.

Nothing happening here in Cornwall despite all the hype. There's stuff heading this way over the Brest peninsula but it's not sparking and something tells me it'll stay like that :(

Disappointing thus far across southwest England and Wales. But I think northern England, southern and western Scotland are the places to be tonight.

Wow, looks exactly like a supercell somewhere in Kansas or Oklahoma.

    Amazing structure to that cloud.

Convective Weather has updated its map to include more of the S and a corridor right up the center of Ireland.

    Translated from French by
Thunderstorms that seem to be much more shy than expected in Normandy, for the moment no significant development on satellite images, temperatures still sometimes > 35 ° C north of the Pays de la Loire, vigilance remains until midnight. ⚠️

Just observing the satellite there may be a small bit of hope for south east, eastern fringes perhaps later with some new cloud formation just off Cornwall now and an ok angle of approach.

Still i'd have to favor a just off shore scenario here but stranger things have happened...

South coast of England around the Isle of White east in for a fun time in the next hour or so. Storms moving north and expanding then.
