Would think we'd need to keep one of Scott or Parker, and one of O'Shea or O'Connor even if signing Snyman, and would hope we'd keep Arnold and Goggin before keeping McHenry.

    My guess is:
Liam O'Connor will be released and not replaced
Brian Scott will be replaced by Knox
Billy Holland will be replaced by Snyman
Arno Botha will be replaced by O'Sullivan
Conor Oliver will be released and not replaced
Jack Stafford will be released after Academy
Alex McHenry will be released after Academy
Alan Tynan will be released after Academy

So the squad might be smaller by 2 spots next season, now 43 senior players, next season 41 senior players.
We badly need a tight-head prop for the Academy next season, in every other position there looks to be plenty of talent coming through.

Tell me about the Coombes cousins. I hear one of them is 6’8? Never saw them at Ireland U20’s level are they club graduates?

    not 6'8 more around 6'6.
One was in Christian's the other in bandon Grammar but would have played club rugby in skibb as well.

There’s Sean French. Comes in as a developing youngster with a lot of promise. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him feature in the coming seasons in the full first team

Don’t think he has the decision making or defence for 13 think his future lies as a winger and a very good one at that, could be wrong

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,024 ✭✭✭theVersatile

French had played on the wing both with Con and Munster (possibly Irish 20s too IIRC) - say Munster might look at him as wing long term.

Arnold will stay. I can see Holland staying on for another year a lá Kearney. Scott and Parker have been leapfrogged by Knox so I can see them both leaving. O'Shea getting double teamed by two Leinster players pretty much sums up his Munster career. Oliver will move on - he's not gotten the chances since being Academy POTY.

McHenry and Tynan is anyone's guess.

Apparently James French may be converted from LH to TH which solves this problem. Ryan, Archer and Knox with French in the final year of the academy might be sufficient.

Was it him who played 12 for the U20s because of other injuries? Really didn't think he had t defensive game to play centre.

If converting to TH it might be necessary to extend his term in the Academy by another year maybe.
It sounds like a sensible move though.
Probably need to hold on to one of Scott or Parker until French can play senior, 4 senior THs is probably necessary to cover injuries in such a specialised position.

CJ's still in South Africa by the looks of his Instagram story, assuming he won't be available for selection on Friday in that case. Strange one considering I would've thought the internationals would be targeting this game as a warm up for Racing.

He played against Connacht tho, so once he started there, he was always going to miss this game, given the internationals were due to sit out 2 games.

Conway's still to be assessed under return to play after the Saracens game according to the Examiner. I'd say he'll be back but still a question mark. Also POM still to be assessed for his groin injury so isn't confirmed either.

TOD injured again. You'd wonder how long he can keep going at this stage.

We could be down to using Scannell as 10 cover in Europe again if JJ is out long term. Barron could also be needed as replacement hooker with KOB and Marshall out.

You'd have to imagine at 32 and missing most of the last two seasons due to the same injury that it must be on his mind that it's not worth it anymore. Contract isn't up until 2021 though.

Jamie Kearns was up in front of the commissioner today for the Jamie George incident:

"The independent Disciplinary Committee took into account the immediate expression of remorse shown by Dr Kearns and determined that he serve a three-week touchline ban, suspended for a period of 12 months and pay a fine of €2,000 (due immediately)."

Anyone who was successful in the 6 nations lottery,

The last I heard anything was on the 11th saying that I was successful and that they would contact me the following week with ticket info etc.

Anyone else in the same boat?

Same as myself, I contacted MRSC and they said they would get back to me today.

In other news, according to Instagram Beirne had the surgery today. I'm presuming thats him done for the season

That's quite a gap between the injury and the surgery, why wait so long? Swelling to go down?

Or to just enjoy his Christmas and New year before having to rehab the surgery perhaps.

    they took the money anyway!!:pac:

If you log in to your MRSC account you should see that you have tickets for the game but they don't specify the exact seat details

I can see Munster winning tonight, Coetzee is a big loss and Murray will have a point to prove. Conway and earls are a far different prospect to
    Last weeks back 3

Could be. When PoM did his ligaments back in 2015 he had to wait 3 weeks before his operation. That was entirely due to the swelling.

My roommate did his ACL at the end of October. Only get surgery in a few weeks time. Swelling part of it but it also seems it’s just not necessary to have it done immediately as with other injuries like a broken bone. Now obviously a mid 20s lawyer and a pro athlete are different scenarios

Getting trounced by Ulster here, far from ideal

Will nothing this season anyway. Utterly hopeless.

Don't think even most optimistic supporters expected winning anything this season, but not getting out of group in Europe or losing in qfs would not be great. All to play for next weekend but need huge performance
