Looks like Glasgow at home are struggling to put away Cardiff tonight.

Hopefully Munster can do better than that next week. We would want 5 points from them.

It's over and Munster win 17-27.

What an absolute atrocity of a performance, 19-0 up after 16 mins thanks to 3 soft tries for us and yet we were an Alex Cuthbert pulled hamstring away from giving Ospreys 2 BP's... Munster better not let this scoreline fool them and realise that this massively papered over cracks otherwise they will go nowhere...

Do you think they're doing a conga line around the changing room or something?

Not sure how we managed a BP win there but I'll happily take it. Poor performance, but the points are in the bag so move onto Cardiff in TP with the rest of the internationals next week.

what were ospreys thinking at the end, why not take the 5m scrum rather than going down the line at a pretty tight angle?

I know we’re missing players and we’ve picked up wins recently, but focusing purely performance-wise, we just having been playing well this season. Sometimes in patches we’ve looked good but not consistently. Hard to see us doing anything at the business end of the season. Worrying too that we haven’t been able to recruit any new front row forwards for next season, the source of so much of our problems.

Munster are the Scots of the URC great 1st half and then nowhere hard to figure it out

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,915 ✭✭✭theVersatile

To be fair, the time to peak is not now. It's in the knockouts.

Not pretty, but never going to frown at five points

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,194 ✭✭✭sprucemoose

    Not at all.

if Munster would up their performances and win against Leinster regularly but fail against weaker opposition, then they would be similar to the Scots.

Munster have actually won silverware recently too

There was a good bit of rain at the start of the second half, it’s freezing here tonight, not sure if it’s as cold there, but it’s understandable that it wasn’t a match full of line breaks.

i don’t agree that they were bad tonight, did very well to push on and keep the pressure and gaining hard yards to get the bonus point try.

The team has to win an ugly one every now and then, sign of a good team, they never looked like losing.

A 5-0 win away to Ospreys after that performance, I'll take it.

I didn't think SOB was that fast but he deserved both his tries, last one was a comedy of errors and we've conceded tries like that too

A badly needed win, a BP win even sweeter.

The Examiner reporting that GAA have approved another rugby match in Pairc Ui Caoimh for later this year. Wonder could it be the Leinster match? No detail of timing of match or opposition mentioned. The article is behind a paywall but only reference is before the paywall. https://www.irishexaminer.com/sport/rugby/arid-41359561.html

It was announced that there is no change to the season tickets next season, so I doubt it will be the Leinster game.

Is it not Leinster playing home games in Croke Park and Nolan Park

Edit, nvm, just clicked on the link and it mentions the Leinster home games.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,645 ✭✭✭✭Eod100

Ah maybe one of the touring sides in November so maybe?

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,645 ✭✭✭✭Eod100

Was mostly about that yeah but there's a line "SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh is also set to host another rugby fixture later this year."

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,609 ✭✭✭Jump_In_Jack

I read that as the article is talking about Croke Park, and as an aside mentioning SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh is set to host another rugby match later in the year.

Munster play the ABs in Thomond in November, we'll hardly play another touring side in PuC before the end of 2024.

I'd love if we did as it would be a huge boost to our finances

“Meetings of the GAA's Management Committee and Central Council took place on Friday night and Saturday morning. The GAA didn't elaborate only to say in a short statement that "permission was granted for rugby and soccer activity in Páirc an Chrócaigh and SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh in the coming months."

Could even be end of this season, perhaps a URC home quarter final is being scoped out?

    Or maybe it’s just soccer.

  • Registered Users Posts: 23,715 ✭✭✭✭phog

Ulster, Edinburgh and Connacht our closest URC table rivals coming into this weekend all lost without a BP so our 5 pointer was a massive win for us last night.

We weren't great but that win has brought us into the top 4, we play Cardiff in Thomond next Saturday.

Was reading it that it was a guaranteed fixture as opposed to a hypothetical one but I could be wrong. Seems a bit premature to scope out a home knockout game at this stage but maybe it would need to be applied for in advance. It definitely specifies rugby as opposed to soccer though.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,609 ✭✭✭Jump_In_Jack

Could be soccer in the near future and floating a possibility for rugby some time next season.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,645 ✭✭✭✭Eod100

I think the soccer reference was for the friendly in Croke Park next summer. Guess we will have to wait and see sure!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,670 ✭✭✭50HX

Yeah it's a super away result now based on the other results, the sort if result that can be easily overlooked, great to see hodnett & haley back.

Hopefully a more consistent performance v Cardiff & then kick on v northampton

Billy Burns after doing damage to his shoulder ?

    The curse of Munster

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,645 ✭✭✭✭Eod100

Yeah results definitely went our way. Mad there's 5 points between 3rd and 4th and 6 points between 4th and 10th.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,645 ✭✭✭✭Eod100

The Irish Times now reporting that "SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh is set to host a friendly between Munster and a New Zealand XV later in the year." https://www.irishtimes.com/sport/gaelic-games/2024/03/24/croke-park-in-line-to-stage-champions-cup-semi-final-if-leinster-make-last-four/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

Ourselves and Benetton have won, drew and lost the same number of games, we're on 39 points, they're in 33. That's a very valuable 6 BPs.

  • Registered Users Posts: 23,715 ✭✭✭✭phog

That must be an error, the tickets have been sold for the game in Thomond Park
