I just downloaded a rape PDF to my phone.

Where does it say that they exclude white women? This is a leaflet targeted towards a certain segment, but it doesn’t mean that this is what they do exclusively.

    Their website says
a specialist support organisatio offerring free and confidential support services to all women survivors of sexual violence and abuse in all its forms

    And
As part of its commitment to accessibility and inclusion, it therefore offers a specialist service for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic women aimed at overcoming some of these barriers.

I’m outraged at what the people of Wycombe in the UK are at!

I'm sure this UK based rape crisis centre that is nothing to do with Ireland help with all kind of women and not just the ethnic minorities, what am I supposed to be outraged about here?

I'm honestly sick of these race/gender/sexuality baiting threads...

    Who honestly gives a shíte?

It’s not like someone who screams racism against white people to get it wrong.

Is this another misinterpreted and misleading outrage teaser?

Making sure one demographic is aware of a service is not the same as providing a service for that demographic only.

This is f*cking bullsh*t. It’s a leaflet put out by the Rape Crisis Centre to ethnic minority women saying that they too can access the service and that they have translators available if needed. The RCC looks after all women and doesn’t exclude anyone.

That idiot Tommy Robinson tweeted this earlier with the same stupid claim you’re making and as such the Rape Crisis Centre has been bombarded with a load of abuse. Which is of course what you want to be dealing with at work, reading a load of angry and threatening abuse when you’re busy trying to help women who have been raped.

    Why are people so thick?

They don't just offer services to specific ethnic groups. The leaflet you posted was aimed at women who might have felt that the existing services were not for them whether because they had language issues or may have encountered racism in the past.

A cousin of my sister in law is a volunteer with this group and she says the level of abuse they've received since the unlovely Tommy Robinson decided to post a scan of it with the caption "I guess it's all right to rape white women then" is mind boggling.

    From the leaflet
We aim to provide an equal opportunities service to all women, regardless of their race, cultural background, sexual orientation, and any disability. We want women from all walks of life to be supported by us and experience a safe and appropriate environment in which to heal.

You might read a bit more and thoroughly the next time.

Given the title of the thread and the link which you didn’t read, who told you the rape centre is ‘refusing’ to of service to white women?

Genuinely, where did you get that information?

The other important question is why some people are so determined to import right wing controversies from the UK and elsewhere to Ireland.

It doesn’t matter what the article says, the most important thing is this headline is out there and people won’t read the article and pass it on (god knows what the claim will be after a few iterations).

Had a quick look at the OPs posting history.
The OP knows quite well that this Rape Crisis organisation don't refuse white women. The OP is pushing an agenda where the truth isn't important.

Jaysus. When I find myself in full agreement with folks like El Duderino, BBFAN and Odhinn on a subject that kinda tells me something is ballsology personified. How the hell could anyone believe a rumour like that? When the actual organisation's code of practice is but a click away? Jaysus Part Deux.

I think the OP has a point
If you look at the leaflet from the rape crisis centre it has on the front in big red type, "black, asian and ethnic minority women" and only on the back in much smaller type does it say " we help all women regardless of their ethnicity or cultural background"
now that's fine, but supposing if it said on the front,in big red type "white English indigenous women"and then said on the back in much smaller type" we help all women regardless of their ethnicity or cultural background"
Would that still be fine or would people say that was racist?

Ah c'mon Al, FFS like. I'm a fan of stretching credulity at the best of times, but you'd want to be really stretching to the point of failure to take that away from the leaflet.

From what I understand of the situation over there, there are women from some communities who don't come forward, or rarely. Either because the community culture wants to keep it in house, or in some cases because the culture will as likely blame the woman for the crime, so the RCC folks are reaching out to those women as a vulnerable group. A few years back I recall them doing similar campaign to target prostitutes and other sex workers for similar reasons, they were less likely to come forward. They even had a campaign aimed at male victims of sexual assault and rape. IIRC the most likely to come forward and pursue a criminal case were White middle class women. They feel more likely to get support and generally have more familial and community supports.

It's trying to get the message across to women who have been taught that their husbands (or even men in general) can do whatever they want to them that they don't have to put up with that shite. It also mentions gang rape. It seems very hypocritical for Tommy Robinson to criticise that after he's been so outspoken about Muslim rape gangs.

Tommy Robinson probably only cares when it's the Muslims doing the rapes. He'll turn a blind eye if Muslim women are the victims.

I used to volunteer with Women's Aid and when they introduced a translation service for non English speakers with similar ads we got so much abuse on the phones over it. I think some people don't realise that the bulk of the people answering the help lines of the RCC are not staff, they are donating their time for free to help others, people should be thanking them not ringing to complain

To be perfectly honest I think most of those callers didn't give a damn about any of the women using the service, it's just a handy excuse to have a go. I suspect the people complaining in the UK aren't bothered much by white people being sexually assaulted either

Funny who calls who snowflakes. Targeting rape crisis organisations? Really? Because they want to help all rape victims. You should be ashamed of yourself for posting this. The outrage is strong on both sides.

The ops recent posting history include this, a thread where he's going off about feminism, one where he thinks Africans are thick, one about cucks and the rest are about the Irish football team. The fact that he still thinks our football team are worth discussing tells you all you need to know.

You sound like a very sane, rational individual.

Well, a right wing piece of sh*t (or any scumbag for that matter) stoking his followers to ring a rape crisis center with abusive phone calls?
That is the lowest, scummiest thing on earth to do.
To damn right that's where my rationality takes a break.
Sadly there is no limit anymore to the depths online antagonist can plunge to these days.
And a part of me thinks that if someone is such a piece of utter scum, a little bit of instant karma would not go amiss.
People think because it's a free world, they can be assholes.
And then they cry like little bitches when the page turns.

Very poor choice of words. This world we live in is rife with outrage over nothing and a culture of shaming that is so common place that I would think make people more careful with their words. A necessary evil unfortunately.

Perhaps it would have been better to go with:
